Good jobs to stay fit!

Hi Everyone,

I've been recently thinking about looking for a new job. My job just sucks and I want to do something where I can stay active.

I don't need to make THAT much money. $10-11 a hour would be good, even, but I want to be active and move around. I'm hoping there's jobs out there that are normal day time hours, no weekends and holidays, where I'm not just SITTING AT A DESK.

I'm sick of feeling so lazy. I come home from work and just want to go to the gym or be active!

Any recommendations?

I don't have a college degree :(
I can lift 50 pounds, but not much more than that.

Work in a restaurant. No matter what your positition is (with the exception of host/hostess), you'll be doing a lot of standing and walking around.

construction if you don't mind working outside during the winter

This is something I would loooove to do! I really want to go out and work really hard everyday.

I'm a woman and I have this feeling that it would be hard to get a construction job because of it (even though I know it's illegal to discriminate). Any suggestions on how to get hired? I don't have any experience.

You could get a job on a farm, or as a factory hand.
Hospitality will keep you on your feet aswell. Or take public transport to and from work so you have to walk to the station and back again.

My best bet would be to start out with a small contractor or remodeler. Someone who owns his own business maybe has one or two employees. Typically they do alot of remodel jobs or additions like porches or single room add-ons

Once you get some experience you should be able to move up to the bigger contractors like home builders and such.

I don't know just a thought

Thank you for that advice. I'm going to start looking through craigslist ads, unless you have a better suggestion.

I'm still fairly new to this city and don't know many people, yet.

Thanks again though, this is exactly what I was looking for!

I use to clean newly built homes after all the construction was done. I really enjoyed it because it was active and I got to see some really fancy homes too. I could bring my own music and take a break when I wanted. Its much better than cleaning a home someone lives in because its all just saw dust and stuff so you don't have to freak out about germs!!

How did you get that job? And were you able to make good money doing it, or was it a part time thing?

If you were a nanny or a babysitter you can stay very fit with lots of sport, outdoor activities, running around etc, depending on the ages and abiltities of the children.

Or what about walking peoples dogs? Being a messenger, farming, fruit/vege picking. Just a few ideas.

Like Shae stated, I was going to say walk dogs, start your own small business (might be a lil extra work) but you can set your own hours once you've built up clientele, maybe it could be done alongside a PT job.

I've painted new construction for about 8 months. I was a flat roofer for a short bit of time. I sometimes do home renovations with my dad flipping houses. Moving Companies.

This site is prob just Canadian, but I wonder if there is one like it in the states... Jobbank.gc.ca,

Were you asking me? I had a friend who was doing the job, and she needed someone to take her place for one job, so she asked me. I loved it so I kept the job.
I would try calling some companies or asking friend who may know someone in the business thats the easiest way. I didn't work full time but I bet if you wanted to you could. Contractors sometimes want someone to clean up after remodeling too. Now as far as pay....I lived in a small ND town and this was about 10 yrs ago so I was only making 12 dollars an hour and on average it took about 5-9 hrs, sometimes more. You would make more money now though, I would guess. It was a lot of money for that area.... you could still buy a nice house for way under 100,000 LOL. Too bad that's changed.
