Good eats... at least, they once were.

Hmmm, I'm a bit wary of using food as a reward of any sort...

But I do agree that you should officially allow yourself little treats... not because you ate so well the rest of the week, but coz EVERYBODY deserves little treats :)

:p I had chinese food for breakfast. haha... just about a cup, maybe a cup and a half.

Overall, I had a good day today... I walked 2.73 miles on the treadmill, even though I was so tired I took like 4 breaks just to feel the air conditioning on my face. I did have a steak and cheese sub(plain, no mayo) for dinner, but this time I didn't have any fries. :)

It rained really bad here. There were tornado warnings out all day, but finally the system moved on... right to where my dad works. It took him 3 hours to get home, when usually it only takes one. He said the commute was one of the most frustrating drives he's ever taken. But everyone's okay, so I guess it's all good.

Did anyone watch Dr.Phil today? "too heavy too young" was the name of the episode.
It was crazy... I don't think my mom and dad are really like any of the parents on there, although I would have liked to grow up healthier. But no matter, I'm changing it now and thats all that matters.

Thanks for your advice karmann!
Are you by any chance from Europe? I don't think I've heard anyone where I'm from call them crisps, we call them chips. haha... not like it matters. :)

I really appreciate all your support you guys!
:D

Heehee, Karmanns from England :) They call 'em crisps... You know what they call fries though?? CHIPS!

And I'm serious.

hahaha
I haven't eaten anything yet, I just got up, but I have to work really hard on this scholarship application because it's due tomorrow.
Gah... I hate procrastinating.

Eat something girl!! Get that metabolism going!

Yea in Canada we have "Fish and Chips" restaurants, but we generally call fries fries. Unless your having fish and chips haha. Chips though (crisps or whatever) are the devil. My worst nightmare. I have the hardest time saying no to them when they are anywhere near me. Most people get sugar cravings... but me?!? I get SALT cravings! It's horrible really!

Anyways your doing great girl. You've lost 3 lbs. stick to it!!! You will be glad you did in the end :)

I've got some motivation ideas... take some before pics and some measurements and then take some new pics once a months and measurements either once a month or every two weeks. You will be motivated to stay on track cus you want to see the pics look better and the inches come off in the next month!

Oh man me too. it's the doritos that get me. Oh those cheesy chips are amazing and absolutely horrible at the same time. :drool5:

What are the foods that you guys find hardest to resist?

What are the guidelines for measuring?

Oh yeah, I weighed in this morning at 223.1 lbs, but then later I was back at 226.
When should I be weighing in for the most accurate weight?
:banghead: It's so frustrating.

:p Anyway, I need to get on the treadmill again, I spent all day working on getting this scholarship thing.

The same time of day and state of dress / undress. Accuracy doesn't matter - it's impossible to get a scale reading that isn't affected by meaningless factors beyond your control - but consistency does.

oh, okay. Thanks!

My ex principal is kind of screwing me over, I need a letter of endorsement and I asked her on Monday, and she said she'd give it to my mom (who is a teacher at the same school) on Thursday. She hasn't gotten back in touch with me and I'm getting a little anxious that I won't meet the deadline.

AHHHHHH!!!
God I hate stress!:banghead:

Oi!
I got my scholarship application done, got my cap and gown too.
sheesh I need to exercise.
weighed in at 224.5
Still a good loss!!
:D
Does anyone know where to measure?

HOLY um.. crud?
I weighed in this morning at 221.9 lbs!
Wow. This is encouraging!

Woo hoo! Congrats!

Now don't get discouraged if it bounces back up...my weight seems to bounce down, back up and then slowly wander back down again. I've kind of gotten used to the pattern now so I don't panic when the initial weight loss doesn't stick.

Oh...I'm a salty snack person too. I love my chips and salsa, popcorn, potato chips, etc... :)

Oh man... I guess I never realized just how much I was eating before I started this. I kind of wish I had kept a record of the calories I consumed and how much I weighed because as soon as I started keeping a food journal, I started eating less. Now I've lost like 10 pounds, and I love it. My mom keeps complimenting me about how I look now that the weight is coming off.

I've got my parents starting to watch the calories they eat, now I have to set them up on fitday so they can actually see it. I'm not sure how "in to it" my dad is, haha, he just had 2 pork bbq sandwiches and he's now eating chips, but he had his gallbladder taken out so he had to watch his fat intake (and lost 10 pounds) and he watches what he eats more now when we eat together. I'm proud of them. My mom has started keeping a food diary, too, and I think she has more realistic goal weights than I do, even though my goal is to weigh 150 by 6/27/09 (my 18th birthday) hers is 200 by New years. Actually, if I calculate it, I only have to lose like 1.3 lbs a week, whereas she has to lose 1.5-1.8 pounds every week. So yeah, I take that back. haha...

I am in love with this sugarfree jello I made with diet mountain dew. (Kickass, man) The flavor is so much better than the lime jello in the cups that you buy at the store. :D

I went to the movies with my parents yesterday, but I was really proud of how I did. I basically drank 32 oz. Diet Coke (haha, I know, diet soda isn't exactly good for me but it was better than pigging out on a slurpee. :D) and had a few sugar-free candies. I actually ended up having to eat a meal after dinner to get my calorie count in because I woke up at lunch time. YAY!
I used to exceed my maximum caloric intake in 2 meals because I would just eat so much crap. haha... seeing that in words makes me feel good. Usually, movies would increase my calories 500-650. This time, I got out with 35 calories.

Man, you guys really must feel good when you see your weight dropping. I know I do!

YAY!!

I'll talk to you guys later, we're having flounder for dinner. :D
<3

I actually just started thinking... am I losing too fast? 10.7lbs lost in about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks... I haven't been starving myself (I love to eat too much to do that, and I hate being hungry) or anything, I've just cut out (most) junk food although I still indulge occasionally, but now it's more sugar free. I cut out sodas, but I eat everything I want, just in smaller portions. Today, I had an egg and cheese biscuit from McDonalds, but I got unsweetened tea and no hashbrowns. Instead, I had a Fruit and Walnut Salad (minus the candied walnuts <I actually don't even care about calories from those because I count them anyway, I just don't like them>). Later I fit in a meal even though I wasn't hungry, because it was lunch time, and I wanted to get in the minimum. I had a lean cuisine frozen meal. I haven't had dinner yet, but I plan on a filet of flounder, corn, rice, and anything else that tickles my fancy.
I exercise 4-5 days a week, 2.5-2.75 miles at 2.6-2.7 mph on the treadmill. It burns around 200 to 250 calories. Other than that, my life is pretty sedentary, with the occasional trip to the grocery store or target.
I don't feel like I'm going above and beyond or anything. I feel like it's just the change from eating all day every day and drinking soda like there's no tomorrow to actually watching what I eat but still having everyday pleasures like candy. I'm never hungry, I just drink water before I eat to see if I'm just thirsty.
I don't know, I don't feel unhealthy.
:/

Any advice?

Meh, now that I read around, I don't think that's losing too fast, do you?

Well done, well done!!!

Since you've got quite a bit to lose, you will lose faster in the beginning. Keep it up, and make sure you're not eating too little and you will be at goal before you know it.

So proud!

I agree with Ankebuzz...you're doing just fine in terms of weight loss but based upon the day I looked at you may want to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet.

yeah, I've been struggling with fruits and veggies. We have plenty of fruit around the house, but it always seems to lose out compared to the other stuff I can eat.

Any tips on getting veggies in? I have those steamfresh singles bags of corn, but they don't have singles in green beans or broccoli or cauliflower or anything else I like. They just have the big bags, and my mom doesn't want me to waste those because I can't eat the whole bag.

Sometimes my mom goes to Costco and gets a big bag of fresh green beans and steams them then blanches them so I can have them cold all week. Maybe I need to get her to start doing that again.

I take a multivitamin every day, but I know I need to get more fruits and veggies too.
Can anyone set up a spreadsheet on Excel for me (or tell me how) so I can average my daily weigh ins and get a more accurate read on what I'm losing?

:) Thanks you guys!

You don't need a steaming bag to microwave veggies. I just use a microwave safe container with a lid (not one that seals airtight) like corning ware. Frozen veggies microwave up just fine and taste almost steamed cooked that way. I like a mixture of costco's frozen broccoli mixed up with some fresh sliced onion, green pepper and grated carrot. I can easily eat 3 cups of that along with a chicken breast and I'm full. :)

If you've got a microwave-safe bowl and plastic wrap, you don't need special stuff to microwave veggies. Veggies in bowl, splash of water in bowl, plastic wrap over the top, microwave for ~6 min a pound. Not done enough? Put it back in for another minute.

No one in my house likes cauliflower but me, and I don't like it as leftovers, so I eat a whole head myself. It's only about 150 calories.

I use the Hacker's Diet, which does the weighted average for you. or
