Goals set by Trainer

Ok, I will make this quick...... I joined a gym at the end of January and I hired a personal trainer to help get me started. I have paid for 6 months 2x a week for 1/2 hr. My trainer does not want me to change my eating habits just yet. Is this common? I am 5'5 175 female (pear shaped). I am very heavy on the bottom and would like to start to slim down a bit. I do Cardio 3x a week for an hour. Should I do more? I am looking for some other opinions here. One more question, if I do not change my eating habits and keep with this regiment, what type of results can I expect to see in 6 months?

Without knowing more about the trainer I can't say whether this is a good or bad thing. That is kind of a judgement call. Sometimes I do not work on a client's nutrition until I get them on a regimented routine. Sometimes I get them dieting from the first day. If I don't feel like a client is ready to take on two major life changes at the same time I will hold off for a few weeks before starting on the diet.

Did you screen him thoroughly before booking with him? See this thread:

Is it ever a bad idea to at least start watching what you eat? I don't know what your diet consists of but cutting down on pop and snacks that you know are bad for you now might make a new diet easier to handle later.
As far as results...someone correct me if I'm wrong, but results depend on too many variables to say for sure. But rest assured, keep at it and you'll eventually be where you want to be.

I agree, the results differ from person to person and there are way too many variables. And, I also agree that it is never too soon to change your eating habits by cutting out (or down) on some of the unhealthy foods.
I strongly believe in cutting down only the carbs, as I am a strong follower of the Atkins movement ... although, I don't go to the extreme.
