I need to lose 40 lbs in 3 months! Whats the fastest way to do this? I don't care if its healthy or not, I just want 40 lbs gone!
Thanks in advance :)

1. Unless your starting weight is over 400 pounds, not only is this not a safe venture for most, for 99.9% of people it's not even obtainable.

2. If there was an easy way to drop weight, even an unsafe one, people would be doing it already. Just eat less calories then you burn. Exercise...a lot. That's all. But it's not easy.

3. The faster you lose weight the more likely it is to be muscle your losing, and not fat. So then you get skinny but look all 'flabby' and gross. Have fun with that one!

Kayshiz... i love the picture! Im a big invader zim fan.

But anyway back to the topic at hand. I just had to look up what the converstion is for 40 lb to kg (Im an australia, dont hold it against me, its just that we are metric) and works out to be 18.5kg.... wow...

They say that it takes 3 months to get into shape fittness wise if you really commit yourself, however you'd be pushing it just to lose 25lb in three months.

So... i just have one question.... why do you want to lose that weight so quickly?

Amputation would be the quickest way. Might have undesirable side effects though.

Losing 40 lbs in a reasonably healthy way is possible but it depends on your current height/weight as well as your current eating/activity style. Supply a bit more info and you might get some useful answers.

When I was in high school I was on the edge of an eating disorder, I ate around 500 calories a day and exercised literally 4-5 hours a day (summer cheerleading practice) and lost 30 pounds in a month... I could have killed myself, it was the dumbest thing I could have ever done. AND I gained ALL the weight back PLUS some... I was 147 and got down to about 120 in a month and I started out my weight loss journey this month at 171.... do you REALLY want to risk putting in all back on... or worse killing yourself?

If you are looking for unsafe advise or the "go ahead" to do something stupid then I promise you, you will not get it here.

I don't care if its healthy or not

Wow, that is the wrong attitude by far! You should care above all else if it's healthy or not!!! What on earth could you possibly have going on in 3 months that's worth risking your life over??? Seriously, unless someone is going to kill you if you don't lose 40 pounds in 3 months, it's just not worth it.

Do it the healthy way. If that is just unacceptable to you, then you will have to find somewhere else to go for help. We don't support crash diets and people trying to kill themselves here.

Easy. 3500 calories/lb. That means you need a calorie deficit of 140,000 in 3 months. That'd be about 1500 cals/day. Good luck with that.

It's not impossible, plenty of bigger fellows have dropped 10lbs/month. I've dropped 10/12 in a month before but it's hard to maintain.

I've done it before when i was in the army. but that was exercise starting from 6am every morning to 10pm at night, with a strict carbohydrate and protein diet everyday, around 3 litres of water a day. You've got to be willing to quit your job, or get a job which requires physical activity.

soooooooooo,

realistically, it's possible eh?.. right, but pragmatically... not so much. I lost 50lb in 5 months, but that was with planning/ evolving my diet as I go. Just by the nature of your "urgent" need to lose weight, I am guessing it's for a wedding, or something similar. If that is the case, I am also guessing you had more than 3 months to plan, and now it's a fire-sale because of the procrastination? On that assumption, I am also (just guessing) it will be VERY hard for one to do a complete 180 degree shift in eating, exercise, and lifestyle...because that is what is required to lose 40 pounds in 3 months.

Eating - need to cut a significant number of calories, and you need to keep a VERY diligent log of what you are eating in order to make sure you don't falter.

exercise - you need to be burning about 1000 calories a day with exercise. This can be done by walking quickly (3.0mph) for 2 hours, or running for 1.0 hours, or jogging 1.3.

lifestyle - drinking, partying, etc. off the books for 3 months. Is this possible? No late night coffee from starbucks, no sweet, etc.

Overall, sounds pretty crappy, but totally possible. If you do all of these things, and do them "to the t", it's VERY possible to lose 40 pounds, but because you have so little time to do all of this, you don't get any mistake/ break periods.. best of luck.
