Glenn's race to wedding fitness (with pics)

Ok guys so, I just signed up, I said a little bit about my self in the newbie section. Now I guess I will unleash in this section......

So I officially started my life changing diet and work out Tuesday Sept. 2 in hopes to return to my old weight and look fly for my wedding May 2/09. I will be explaining my daily intake.

I ate 5 meals a day since then, 2 snacks 3 full.

My day mainly went something like this.........

This is me 5yrs ago at my and at the lowest weight in 5yrs.

Breakfast: 12 grain bagel butter... (I know it's bad)
Snack: veggies
Lunch workout: Run to the local gym do cardio 45min
Lunch: A frozen Lean chicken dish with 220cal, yogurt
Snack: Sweet Salty
Dinner: Frozen lean dish, or salad with chicken breast.
Tons of water.......

I also had tuna fish sandwich on brown bread one of the days,

And Had tuna fish and veggies for dinner one day.....

I'm trying to continue to workout at lunch with cardio and come home and do P90X. I have only done P90X twice because I just started Friday. But my plan is to do the full 90. With my other daily events.

I will say it’s extremely tough to curb the night snacks and cravings....the other day I just wanted to eat a whole pizza....But I decided to go for a run.....It helped......

But today I did not eat dinner and was so hungry, I ate a piece of chicken pizza......man I feel like crap now.....only thing to help justify somewhat is that I went for a 35min rollerblade before. I just don’t want to quite I need to slim down NOW!!

I would love to here your input about my daily routine.
I will try to update on a regular basis....

This is me 5yrs ago at my lowest weight in 5yrs @ 180lbs

Yay you started your diary! :hurray: How do you like the Power 90 so far?

P90 is good I can tell if you stick to the work outs you will see results....Iam sweating like crazy midway through......The hard part will be sticking with it.

I have a friend who is coming over everyday to do it with me, so we push each other to the finish line. Im just real excited to even get to day 30 on the program. I will keep everyone updated with how I feel about p90x, all I can say right now is that my whole body is sore......lol but it kinda feels good.

That's awesome you have a friend coming over to workout with you... that makes it a lot harder to make excuses. ;-)
So what are you doing for food? I saw your diet for the other day posted. Are you counting calories, just trying to make better choices, or following a specific plan?
I agree with you on the late night part... I can eat healthy all day and then something about the night... Mine is especially hard with kids cuz I have the most success when I dont eat starchy carbs for dinner but I fix them for the kids so its hard to turn them away...

Mainly just watching what I eat. No plan specifically, today was kind of bad.

Breakfast: nothing.....
Snack: peanuts
Lunch: lean frozen food, 260 cal.
Lunch workout: ran to gym 30 min cardio
Dinner: 6" grill chicken on honey oat.
Snack: (real bad) smart food popcorn, about 4 hand fulls, 10 chocolate covered almonds......was playing poker with the boys.....

I came home and was only able to do 30min of P90X instead of the full 60min.

Feel hungry but I am just going to chug some water to curb the hunger......

30 minutes is better than no minutes! When I'm hungry before bed, I have a protein shake (made with water). That will help you sleep, keep your metabolism up but not give you any carbs to sit in your belly. You didn't really have that many calories today... a protein shake would do you some good. Night!

Alright...So today did not start off very well, I slep in....only had ate lunch which consisted of a small chicken salad, and small chocolate milk.......Im about to leave work now and go do some P90X and then maybe a jog or roller blade......

I feel exrtreamly pumped after looking through this forum.....very inspiring to look at the before and after pics.....

I think It may help to post pics of myself on here to give myself more motivation to work harder in order to show my progress.

Hey Glenn, did you get your workout in? I love me some chocolate milk when I'm craving sweets lol...

Pictures are definitely a good thing to do for motivation... Hope you have a great night! :seeya:

Ok So tonight I had to come home and rush the workout becuase I had to discuss my wedding details........So I was able to fit in 45min of intense pilates.....WOW i was sweating.

I then ate a subway 6"grill chicken sandwich for dinner with bake chips....

I went rollerblading for about 20-25min...

Have you tried it as a wrap? Good stuff and a lot less carbs if you're trying to watch those! I tried it yesterday for the first time and was actually surprised. You can still get all the same things in it you would the sandwich, just trade out the bread for the wrap... a wrap has 120 calories, 4.5 g of fat, and 13 carbs where as the bread (white) has 190 calories, 2.5 g of fat, and 38 carbs! Anyway, just a thought. :)

Nice job getting some exercise in! :hurray:

Ok so I missed a few days here, and I think I got screwed a bit......The weekend was filled with junk food...

Played some poker with the boys Friday night, went over, did not eat dinner, and they had ordered pizza..........not good!!!!

I told myself to stay away....But sure enough one slice turned into 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although it was extremely good, I felt real bad.....

Sat I went over to my fiancés aunt and uncles for dinner, and they were having baby back ribs....., mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

I told them about my diet and they were awesome, they had some chicken breast and made me a piece of chicken to eat instead of the ribs...

And last night for dinner I took your advice paulab and had a wrap from subway....real good!

And on the exercise side of things....I slacked a lot and did not work out the whole weekend....

I am going harder this week. More exercise and better eating, without the indulging.

Ok so today I ate a chicken salad with no dressing for lunch, and had soe baby carrots for a snack.....

Came home after work, and did an hour workout with P90X
it was Kenpo X

then had a shrimp pasta for dinner......(I know should of had shrimp pasta for lunch and salad for dinner..)

I’m pretty happy with the gym today, went at lunch and weighed my self, and I’m down 6lbs from the last weigh in. I know it does not seem like a lot; however before I signed up to this forum I weighed 232lbs, so it was very motivational to see that. It makes me want to continue to eat well and keep going strong.....

I know even though I have been eating pretty well since I started, I know I can do better.

Today, just ate some carrots in the morning, slept in again..... And went to the gym at lunch for 30min of cardio.

lunch meal was a tuna fish sandwich on brown, with cauliflower soup.

Dinner was a chicken salad once again....Im pretty content with it, so why not!!

I did however sneak in like two hand fulls of these ritz baked chips, which was sooo tasty. Although once again I felt bad after.

Today, I have a breakfast shake...

Then to the gym for another 30min session of cardio...
Lunch I ate a Michelinas lean meal, which has 280 cals, and a yogurt.

I will tell you that I still have a large jug of water at my desk which I try to drink at least two bottles while at work. Really helps fill your belly.

Tonight more exercise, which will be speed paintball with co-workers, then home to do P90X.

I went home and crashed last night so I missed my P90x for yesterday.

Well I made is home after an intense paintball match, got some excercise there, then I came home and did P90X

ate a chicken vegitable meal with brown rice.

Ok so weekend was not good/bad.......I had a baseball tourney played 4 games Saturday, was a good boy in some respect...Work had tons and tons of pizza for lunch, and I contain myself to 2 slices.....then after they had beer, and I had none....And it was a hot sunny day.....Bad was I twisted my ankle in one of the games and now its almost impossible to run or do any work outs that require me to rotate my ankle. So that means no running at lunch today......I'm actually pissed about that....And I am suppose to go home and do P90X but I’m not sure if I can with my ankle.....

On Sunday I ate with some friends which they ordered Chinese food.....and def. did not do well, I ate like 4 chicken balls and a large plate of noodles, rice and chow main.

I feel guilty.....and it so bad that I cant run it off today....

LOL! Chinese food is so good. Can't say it hasn't happened to me either. What's with chinese food anyway, it's not like you get one thing, for me it's chow mein, fried rice, a couple of sides, maybe an egg roll, some soup. LOL

You'll do better, just do good on most days and you will be looking fly by the wedding! Congrats!

Thanks MissJelly, I find myself finding too many excuses these days, it doesn’t help that I sprained my ankle last weekend and its still extremely sore, However when I run at lunch it only hurts for the first 2 min. of running, then once to the gym and on the cardio machine I am all good...

I need to weight myself sometime this week, although I don’t think I have lost anything, especially since I have slowly been steering away from the diet...

I will tell you I am still in pumped mode, working out at lunch is pretty exciting, it’s just going home to do P90X when I know I have soo much work to be done....

I need to work 20 hours a day in order to get everything done, its ridiculous...

I am pretty pumped today!!! I went to the gym and I am down another few pounds.....And the funny thing is I thought I was going to be at around the same weight considering I was not eating as well as I was before. Plus I have not done P90X in like 10 days....

I will say for anyone trying to loose weight, you here it time and time again. Diet is the number one way to loose weight....I mean I haven’t been eating really bad that past few days, but still nothing extremely healthy, and I have only been doing about 30 min of cardio at lunch......

Good luck with your fitness venture as well as the upcoming wedding. Just a few thoughts after reading your journal here...take them as you will, I am no expert...just speaking from my own experiences. Try to record what you are eating everyday. This alone is a great tool to keep "crap" out of your mouth. Who wants to write... 10 medium wings from Hooters with wedge fries and three tall budwiesers??? Second, I know about the busy with work and family thing... trust me. If this is important to you, take some time to plan and organize so everything is just routine and you don't have to spend so much time each day preparing meals, logging workouts...and so on. Read the stickies here. They are full of great advice on nutrition, weight training, and planning. Add those things to the drive you seem to have already and... no problems acheiving your goals.

Good luck to ya!

Look at JZ soundin' like a "forum pro" already! YOU GO BOY!!! :D

Madman, thanks for stoppin' by my diary today! Glad to hear you are a down a few pounds; that always makes for a happy day! :hurray:
