Well, I've been reading from this forum for a few weeks now without much to input and without any good questions of my own. I've decided that in order to continue toward my goals in both weight loss and fitness I will need a support group that is knowledgeable about strength training and eating.
A little about myself:
In March ’06 my wife and I decided we should start “taking care of ourselves” so we’d live longer and get to see our kids grow up. Our first move, purchase a scale and see what damage we had done unaware. Well, my damage was beyond what I had imagined. I was a whopping 352 lbs. Surely more than I’d ever weighed and I really didn’t feel like I was that heavy.
We decided to start “fixing” the damage at that moment. What did we do? We started eating better (which for someone as bad off as me was as simple as controlling portions and stopping a lot of the snacking here and there).
I’m now approaching two years on this journey (ups and downs included) and I’m currently at 264 lbs, a loss of 88 lbs to date. So with no fad diets, I didn’t need Jenny’s help or someone to “watch” my weight (besides myself) I’ve done pretty well.
So why come to this forum? Well, I was excited to lose the weight, to lighten my load, and to simply not look like a huge Tub-O-Lard (I think I’m now a medium-large Tub-O-Lard) that even with the weight loss some of my decisions weren’t maybe the best. Mainly one decision wasn’t wise: not to strength train.
I’m now at a much more comfortable weight to begin working out and actually have begun from home. I hope the people in this forum will help me keep on keeping on to achieve my goals and beyond. I’ll be looking for some help soon in the weight training forum.
A short list of my stats:
Age: 26
Height: 6’ 1”
Weight: 264 lbs and dropping
Thanks for reading.
