Gingerbabe's on fire

Hey guys!

My name is alicia and I am a 20 year old student in Boston. I fell off the wagon this past summer and I'm getting back on! I think a diary and keeping track off my lifestyle will help.

Stats:
height = 5'6"
weight = 154.5 llbs
BMI = 24.9

Goals:
weight = 140
BMI = 22 - 23

So far today, I lifted at the gym for about an hour and I have eaten clean
banana
egg whites with organic salsa
"fitness bread" with all natural PB
low-fat CC

OKayy...
So, the only times when I eat junk food is late at night if I come home drunk or if I am at work!!!

I worked tonight.....

I ate crap. It's tough because I serve at an Italian restaurant where there is an abundance of delicious food! I think it's more out of boredom at work. I just need to stay out of the break room and bring a book for when it gets slow.

I'm working after class tomorrow, so hopefully I do better :(

Feeling a little down on myself. It's not like a have a ton of weight to lose like I used to. Just 15 pounds! I'm ruining it by eating junk at work, eating when I'm tired, or at 5 am like last night. I need to stop.

I am definitely an emotional eater. I just started at a new school a few weeks ago and have been struggling to balance finding time for class, homework, work, and seeing my friends. I eat when I am stressed or tired or bored. I used to have an eating disorder, so it's tough to gain weight after stopping and not going back to my old "habits"...

I beat myself up for what I eat. If I eat "bad" food, it ruins my entire day. This is part of the reason why I want to lose weight the healthy way, so I can not let my weight and food control my emotions.

My goals for the next 2 weeks are:
no smoking!
no eating after 7:30
no eating OG food (aka work food)
make time for the gym

When I write it on paper, it looks so easy. Hopefully keeping this journal will help me stay in control of myself and accountable for my actions. I'm just setting a 2 week goal so I am not so overwhelmed. One step at a time. One day at a time...

wish me luck

I didn't chow after work last night :)

10 am : 1 piece of fitness bread with 1 tbsp of all natural PB

*no ciggies in the past 24 hours!*

11:30 am : hit the gym. Did weights and 30 minutes of cardio.

1:00 pm : 1/2 c CottageC and 1/2 c activia yougurt with red grapes. Added some whey protein to my iced coffee. It's my favorite!!!

4:00 pm : 1 small can of tuna in water and 4 broc stems

6:30 pm : 1 sliced mango with 1/8 c almonds

8:30 pm : grilled chicken and asparagus. 1/4 c CC

Feeling pretty good about my day. Everything I ate was healthy, I probably could have left out my 8:30 pm meal though.

Feeling really good. Going to the gym in a bit.

Looks like everything else is going okay, other than an occasional junk food lapse, (which can be forgiven). The important thing is...

NO Cigarettes!!

It ain't easy!!! And combining weight loss with cigarettes, trust me, I'm there!!

BTW, I'm a Masshole too!!!!, about 50 west of bawston.

I know that one! I'm living in Italy, about 5 minutes away from some of the best food I've had in years! It's really making these last 10 lbs a pain.
Good luck, I'll be rooting for you:hurray:

Hi Alicia, I saw that you are doing the 100 push-up challenge too and wanted to say, "hey!" : ) Good for you for quitting smoking! You will never regret that. Also, I want to say how inspiring your healthy eating and your workouts are! Keep up the great work! See you around! :seeya:

Congratulations on giving up cigarettes. I did that recently and feel soo much better. That's even better than weight loss.

heyas, good luck with the weight loss and cigarettes. I never smoked but I congratulate anyone who at least makes the attempt to quit.

What exactly is fitness bread?

Fitness bread is a very dense bread made with whole rye, oat kernels, and wheat germs. "Mestemacher". It's high fiber, cholesterol free, all natural, no preservatives bread. Beware though, alone it tastes kinda crappy. I only eat it toasted and covered in peanut butter (all natural, only ingredients is PEANUTS!).

I like Whole Foods and Trader Joes, but I usualy end up at Stop & Shop, but even S & S has sections dedicated to whole, natural, or organic foods. Sometimes something just catches my eye and I try it out.

Hi gingerbabe, just wanted to say hi. It's so funny, we are around the same height, and a few years ago, I was exactly the weight you are and determined to get down to 140 pounds. Now I am 20 pounds heavier, and I would love to get back to the 155 mark. It's so funny! But i know once I get there, 140 will become a goal again.

Anyway, best of luck, I know you can do it!

mmm, that bread sounds really good. Have you ever heard of Ezekiel bread? It sounds similar and it tastes really good. I can get it at my local health food store, but I'm not sure if it's a popular brand or anything. The cinnamon raisin one is good enough to eat plain. I like trying out new health food too.

I have heard of Ezekial bread, but I've never treid it. Definitely going to look for it during my next grocery spree. It would be nice to find healthy bread that doesn't taste like hamster food. HAHA :D

It is funny how that works out. I remember when I was like 135 pounds (age 12) and thought I was massive. It's all about persepective. I try to focus on a healthy lifestyle instead of just my weight. The number doesn't matter to me too much, I just want to feel good.
One day at a time....
Good luck to you too!

Been a little stressed out lately. I go to school in Boston 4 days a week and work most week nights, so I have NOT been sleeping. The commute to school is about an hour and the cost of driving/taking the train is insanely high. I need to work so I can pay my bills, but I've been taking shifts off because I am so tired and have a ton of homework. Oh how I wish there were more hours in every day :/

And....I LOVE to go out with friends at night and socialize. I don't have time for everything, but somehow I manage to get it all done. The sleep is what I have been cutting out.

ANyways..

doing good today so far,

1 cup hot tea w/ 1 tsp honey ( throat hurts )
1 large glass of a cranberry/water mix

1/4 C unsalted nut mix
1 golden delicious apple

1 Kashi Go Lean Crunchy bar
1 large iced coffee w/milk (makes up for not sleeping haha)

2 cups of brocc/carrot/cabbage mix

Now I am off to the gym....

Went to the gym. Did about an hour of weights. My heart has never beat so much from strength training and I have never sweated so much form weights. Usually that only happens when I do cardio...

came home and had 1 C egg whites with blueberries, watermelon, and strawberries on the side. And abou 1/8 C cottage cheese (all that was left :( )

The days are getting shorter. It was dark outside when my alarm clock went off :(

Started my day off with:
-1/2 cup quick oats, with stawberries and blueberries
-1 mug of hot tea with 2 tsp honey

**I'm working tonight, so my biggest challenge will be not eating work food tonight**

At school:
1 apple
1 Kashi Crunchy bar
1 med. hot coffee with milk

OKAYYY...so at work all I ate was a small salad without any cheese or croutons....
Can't be too hard on myself about that, can I?

Before work:
1 can tuna w/lettuce and light mayo
2 cups veggies with cottage cheese

later...
"fitness bread" with CC and honey

I was in I-Hop and RESISTED FOOOD!

So, last night about 10 of my friends decided to go to I-Hop at 3 in the morning. I went and just had coffee and water while everyone else stuffed thier faces with chocolate chip pancakes, mozzarella sticks, cheesy eggs, etc...!!!!!!!!

I didn't even finish off what they couldn't eat. I was not even tempted. I have noticed that the longer I go without eating "unlcean" food, the less tempted I am.

AND, when I got home at 4 am, I didn't even look in the fridge!

I am quite proud of myself.

AND, I weighed in at 153 today!

:D
