Gina's (die2bthin) Diary

Ashley- Yeah, there is a 24-hour gym here called Anytime, but they just recently built it. Besides, I can't drive because I have Epilepsy.

Starting Weight: 340

Current Weight: 334

Today's Menu:
- 1 packet weight control oatmeal
- 1 Tbsp. peanut butter (after this jar, I'm switching to natural, reduced fat!)
- half of a chicken breast
- little bit of leftover rice and pea mix from yesterday
- cookie (oops!)

So I've gained two pounds back. I figured most of what I had lost was water weight, but I'm still disappointed. I knew this was going to be hard, but the reality of what a bitch it's going to be really hit me hard tonight. I'm sure that my weight will constantly be fluctuating. I also know that I've been having a few sips of Pepsi here, a little spaghetti here, and that definitely doesn't help. Also, I haven't been drinking as much water as I should be. Tonight, I did 15 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of arms. I could only do 15 minutes of cardio because my ankles were killing me! I don't know why; usually I'm fine after doing cardio. I suppose it's better than nothing, but I know I could've done better.

My number one goal for this week will be to drink more water.

Camy- You don't sound like you're lecturing at all. I really question my caloric intake as well. But it's not that I'm making a conscious choice to "starve" myself. I just don't eat when I don't feel like eating, and there's not a lot of food in the house right now. Thank you for the concern. I just wish there was some way to get more calories.

I don't even wanna get started on what I ate today. I will say, however, that I can tell how my diet is affecting my digestive system. All I ate today was crap. And that, in turn, led to some gastrointestinal pains. I guess seeing that I gained back two pounds and a slight disagreement that I had with Larry yesterday really bummed me out. Oh well. I'm not going to make a big deal of it. I'm just going to get back up on my feet and do things right again. No giving up, no matter what! :hurray:

gina,

I know it can be tough but dont let other issues effect your weight loss. two pounds is nothing and is probably water weight. JUst put the day of bad eating behind you. You cant undo that. JUst focus on doing what you need to do. Keep it up, you can do this.

Gina, I just want to jump in here as a new friend for you. I started at 389 lbs. Yeah I'm guy, yeah I'm taller, okay so what? Still gotta lose the weight to be healthy right? Still gotta do it if we want to feel good about our appearance right?

I'm around halfway to my goal now. I've had so many ups and downs (still do), I couldn't possibly try to count 'em. The important thing is more down than up (weight wise) and more up than down (attitude wise).

I'm with you on some of your thoughts too. Quitting the junk food addiction, or stress eating? Worse than the cigarettes, at least for me. I was a pack to pack and a half smoker for 25 years. Haven't touched one in 3 months now. Not one. Ate a few candy bars last weekend though...

You have all of the right reasons for doing this, and, plenty of time, so don't stress about things like how many lbs you do or don't lose in a day...

Stop by my journal sometime. I do some good stuff, but believe me I do my share of dumb shit too... we're all human. I'll check in on you too whenever I can...

Matt and Karl- Thanks for the inspiration, you guys! You're awesome!

Starting Weight: 340

Current Weight: 331

Today's Menu:

- 1 100% whole wheat English muffin with a Tbsp. of peanut butter
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- 1 chicken breast with wild rice and corn casserole
- 1 Healthy Choice frozen dinner
- 6 oz. blackberries
- a few green grapes

I wish the scale would quit messing with my emotions! Grrr...

gina,
that is a great menu. Watch your calories, you might be able to eat a little more if you are hungry. I see you have already lost 9 lbs which is amazing. The best piece of advise i can give you is do not get on the scale everyday. Pick a day and use that as your weigh in day. Trust me, you will drive yourself crazy if you do it every day. There are so many variables.

How is the exercise going?

Matt

Your diet sounds incredible!! I wish I had the motivation to eat cottage cheese and crap like that...Hahaha, well maybe you actually like it. But to me, it tastes like...lets just not go there, shall we? Anyways, I'm REALLY impressed with your diet! Don't worry about the cheat...I think a lot of us cheated around halloween. I know it's really hard, but keep it up. Your weight will fall off really quickly, especially in the beginning!!

Good luck :)
Sara

Matt- I've got this little problem. No, I really haven't been eating a lot lately, and I need to watch my caloric intake and maybe increase it. My main problem lately has been my schedule. I was talking to Karl (reluctantcabbie) last night and basically told him about my eating schedule. One of my main issues is sticking to a routine eating schedule... my husband works third shift, so I usually stay up quite late, but when I wake up, around noon, I don't feel hungry until three hours later... then when I do get hungry, I'm feeling starved because I didn't eat earlier!

The exercise is going well, except for the fact that I need to quit working on my legs. My calves are already in great shape from carrying all my weight around. But when I work on my calves, my legs are too sore to do more than 20 minutes of cardio! I went to the gym last night and I'm going again tonight, too! I usually go every other day, but I'm slowly trying to increase that to go five days a week.

Sara- Thanks, hon'! Cottage cheese is one of those foods I can tolerate. It doesn't taste great, but it's not that bad, either. Good luck on your journey! *hugs*

I am a culinary genius! I've made two new meals today, all with healthy ingredients. For breakfast, I made an "In Your Face, McDonald's!" breakfast sandwich. I cooked two egg whites with fresh spinach, added a slice of turkey breast and put it all on a toasted 100% whole wheat English muffin with a few spritzes of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!" spray. Super yummy delicious!

For lunch, I had a salad made of Romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, a sprinkle of Feta and Mozarella cheese, hard-boiled egg (white part only), and 3 oz. of turkey breast. I made my own dressing by mixing red wine vinegar, EVOO, and a little Mrs. Dash.

It's interesting to see what you can come up with when your options are limited.

Hats off to the culinary genius!!

Actually the breakfast sammie sounds really good.I miss stuff like that. Breakfast used to be my favorite meal of the day sometimes. But only when it was made of all those horrendous things for you, like a plate of cholesterol?

Hey, I just ran across your diary!

Way to go on the 9 pounds so far! It will add up as you go. :hurray:

Are you omitting the egg yolk for any health reason, or because of the belief that it is bad?

Granted, the yolk DOES contain fat, but it also contains the bulk of the nutrients and proteins that eggs are known for. I haven't denied myself whole eggs during this whole journey. Unless you are really watching cholesterol, I feel there's really no reason to omit the yolk. Unless you just plain can't stand them.

Phoeynx- Thanks! I will allow myself a yolk or two every once in a while, but I'm sure that since I have high blood pressure, I have high cholesterol as well.

Went to the gym tonight. I'm really beginning to hate cardio because for some reason, my ankles are starting to get really sore from it. But I ignored the pain and kept on going. Worked on my arms as well, along with my back and abs.

Rest of today's meals included a Healthy Choice dinner, a protein shake with strawberries, and some grapes. Going to have my last snack for the day in about a half hour. Probably a banana with peanut butter... or some more grapes.

Hey Gina :) My first time dropping by your diary.

Your diet seems really healthy. Great job on that. Only thing I would slightly be worried about is how much you're eating. I agree with usedtobefatmatt. Make sure you're eating enough!

GREAT job with the exercise as well. A healthy diet and exercise go hand in hand. About the ankles being sore, are you stretching properly prior to the cardio? Anytime my legs are sore or hurt from cardio is when I don't stretch properly.

Kudos to you on the culinary inventions. I wish I knew how to cook! :p Those meals sound yummy.

Congrats on losing the 9lbs.

You're doing awesome. An absolutely amazing job :) Keep it up!

Phoeynx- Thanks! I will allow myself a yolk or two every once in a while, but I'm sure that since I have high blood pressure, I have high cholesterol as well.

Definitely worth checking with your doc about with the high cholesterol. Double check with your doc about the egg yolks too. Just to be on the safe side.

So now that my weekend of shameful gluttony is over, it's back to the old grind... ugh!

Note to self: a little less drinking, a lot more working out! I got drunk Friday and Saturday nights... which led to me stuffing food in my face that I wasn't supposed to!

I don't think I can bear to step on the scale tomorrow. I'm scared of the numbers. Maybe I'll skip this week's weigh-in and wait until next Monday to weigh myself.
