Getting it back - Josie's journey...

I totally feel like if I could fit into my smallest size pants and look amazing in them then the scale could read 265 pounds if it wanted to. I wouldn't care I mean if you looked amazingly hot but the scale wasn't at your ideal weight does it really matter? I have learned that no it doesn't. I hate chasing after a number on the scale. I appreciate that I look better then I did before and I exercise and eat right hoping for a smaller number but 135 pounds with have more muscle looks much different then 135 pounds without that much muscle.

In the beginning of January I was not that enthusiastic about losing weight either. I wanted to but I wasn't eating that great because I was focused on just trying to get exercise to become a habit. It took me a couple of months before I got excited and more determined.

Your workouts look great though! I just recently found out you should do weights before cardio. I didn't realize there was an order to burn fat more efficiently! I do have to confess I'm completely ignoring mixing them together though.

You are doing good though!! I don't really like the weekly weigh ins or anything either. I feel like it just sets me up for disappointment so that's why I decided to report on my weight monthly. It's easier and even if you lose 2 pounds it's still 2 pounds less then what you weighed last month :)

yes, I really agree with you there and I think I'm going to stop weighing myself. I am going to strictly go by the way my clothes fit and right now I fit into my every day jeans that seem to be snug at the top... they arent anymore and they are slightly loose. I'm going to take that as a good sign. Maybe every month I'll weigh myself, but I cant get discouraged if the scale doesnt move as much as I like if I'm shrinking in size! Shrinking in size is wayyyyyy more important to me than scale weight.

Nice work on the lifting :)

Thanks, but holy crap am I sore.. I hadnt lifted like that probably since the early winter and combined with the crazy treadmill I really dont know what I expected except to be miserably sore. It wasnt even heavy weight! Yesterday I felt it creep on, and today I cannot go up or down the stairs whatsoever.. Tonight at the gym I need to steadily jog or run or something so I can stretch my entire body afterwards. Do you remember that stretch Armstrong character from childhood, I want to be like that! someone to stretch each one of my limbs :D If I'm still miserable on Friday, I dont know how I can lift, let alone squat.. I may have to postpone my next lifting session til Monday and see how that goes. We'll see though, maybe after tonights warming of the muscles, tomorrow I may feel better.

I have to vent.. I dont really know what's wrong with me, not sure if its the extreme soreness throughout my whole body and my inability to move the way I'd like to because of my genius lifting  or if its because I'm hungry all the time now, or if its because I'm bloated from my crappy weekend or what, but I'm in a piss poor mood and I cant shake it. Usually its because of lack of sleep or whatever, and maybe that's it, and maybe the spring time allergy pill I took last night is having a grumpy effect on me, but I would really like to scream or punch something for no reason. I feel so angry today...?

Hopefully cardio tonight will help my endorphins, but I dont know what the h is going on with my crankiness right now. Its really messing with me :cuss:

that's all. thanks.

I got over my random anger yesterday the minute I got home from work and changed into my gym clothes... after I did cardio, i felt much better, my mood and sore booty were both much happier after I stretched.

This morning I was awakened by a crazy allergy attack couldnt stop sneezing from 5am to 7am, and am doped up on allergy meds so todays workout will be quite interesting. At least I think i can lift as scheduled, but I wont be doing any standing good mornings, or better yet, anything in the butt region :)

I'm glad you feel better! I usually get that way if I have a certain craving and can't get access to it. I found that is actually less now that I eat less carbs. When I used to get hungry I would get really grouchy but now I just get hungry without the grouchy.

Hope your allergies get better and your workout goes well! Although the whole allergy thing probably won't end until after summer. I had a friend who didn't even like taking walks because her allergies got so bad from all the flowers :( Ugh

Are you hungry all the time because you ate more this weekend? I have found when I have a big weekend of eating it gets really hard for me to go back to regular eating.

Hey chickie, I think I was just burnt out, with the visitors and allergies, etc... I dont know why I was so grouchy but it was pretty crazy how much the gym helped. My allergies werent too bad this weekend, (gotta love the rain) and I did pretty well at the gym on Fri and Sat.

And I think you're totally right about being hungry because I was a :piggy: last weekend. This weekend I did much better :D

Workouts for week 3:

Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri - On
Sun/Wed/Sat - Off

Lifting days: Mon/Thurs/Fri

Week 3 update: I'm still holding steady at 156-157 lbs, I've lost about 3-4 pounds in total. I'm going to say its mostly water weight, but I'll take it. I'm less bloated (especially from the food/beer from last weekend), and I find myself getting anxious for the gym. I havent felt like this for a long, long while. So all is well, and I am starting to feel a little weird on my days off, like I should be at the gym instead. But I think its good to keep things balanced and not burn myself out. At the gym on Saturday, I ran/joggged 3 miles (5k?) and I felt great... hopefully I can run even more going forward. My clothes are no longer snug, and are a little loose now, hopefully they will be falling off soon.

Glad to hear there is positive progress! It really does make it easier to keep going when you finally notice the changes. It drives me nuts when people complain about their clothes falling off but no weight change and what are they doing wrong.. I mean obviously there is change!! Then they most likely give up a couple of weeks later and their clothes get too small.

I'm glad you are starting to enjoy exercise again! It's really hard to start but once you start making it a habit then it gets so much easier. I feel like when people keep starting and stopping its hard for them to get to that point. It really does require consistency. I guess some people will always hate exercise though but I find that pretty rare especially when you find a fun hobby :)

Have a great week!

Have a great week!

its weird, because i always have trouble doing cardio the day after a rest day. But when I do it consistently day after day, I have more stamina... so strange... yesterday I was dying on the treadmill. I couldnt wait for it to be over. But Saturday, after a good lifting day on Friday, I ran and ran and could have kept going, really... I really feel like I need the exercise now. otherwise I will feel heavier, bloated and weaker. It's becoming a necessity again which is exactly what I need. The true test is this week (pms), to see if I can keep the bloating down for next week. If I manage, then I know I'm well on the way :D
