Hey guys,
I am somewhat new to this whole weight-loss thing. I never really payed attention to my weight in high school. I did dance classes 5 times a week for the first two years, and stayed relatively fit. Then, after stopping dance, I gained a bunch of weight. I can't say that I really payed attention to it though, or ever really noticed. Fast-forward to a few years later, I was 19, and at my highest weight of 185lbs. On my 5 foot 2 frame, this was relatively huge. Then I met my now-fiance, and was so lovesick (long distance relationship) that I had boundless energy and too many butterflies to eat all day. I dropped down to 150 lbs at my lowest. I was also on birth control pills at the time, which really helped with appetite control.
Then, I stopped the pill out of circumstance. I also wasn't walking as much and due to hormone shifts, was hungry. I gained about 15 lbs. Then.. dun dun dun. I started the Depo shot. Over the past couple of months (From October to Now) I shot up to 178lbs. I don't blame the medication in the shot so much except for maybe a small shift in slowing my metabolism.
Depo made me crave things. It still makes me crave things. Even when I wasn't hungry, I wanted to eat. Plus I had turned 21, and was drinking (not heavily but enough to count).
So a few weeks ago, on April 19th, I turned things around when I saw pictures of me from Easter that made me sad.
I started counting my calories, keeping them around 1200 a day (occasionally if I'm working out harder I'll give myself leeway to 1450). I bought an exercise bike that I'm on at least 2 or 3 hours a day, when I have some free time or while watching TV or shows with the man.
So far, in about a week and a half, I've lost 8 lbs! I'm now down to 171 and at the rate I'm going suspect I'll be down to 168 (the 10 lbs mark) by this Thursday!
I've still got a while to go, but I feel like I'm making sustainable changes- eating healthily and slowly, drinking lots of water, and getting in lots of activity, even if it's light work, every day.
Wish me luck and determination!
