Getting Healthy

OK heres my story: Im 22 years old, and have been pretty overweight my entire life. I'm 6'2'' and weigh 294 right now; and I have lost some weight recently. Most of the stuff on this forum I have found has been geared towards people who are a little over weight, and since im boardering on "obese" (i hate that term) I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Currently I have started eating more, and smaller, meals and doing 30 mins of cardio with some lifting during the week. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Where to start

Hi Scould.

I understand you fustration, and know how hard it can be to pick up the tread.
Correct me if im wrong, but im guessing that your weight may be preventing you from doing proper workout for longer periods, and it can at times be painful to do long walks or workouts.

What you need is a complete plan for you to follow and be motivated by, taking small advices from here and there, simply wont cut it in your case.
You should think long term, finding a diet that fits you and works for you is the first thing you should do. spending one or two weeks reading up on different diets, is better than wasting 5 weeks on a diet that dosn't work and ruins your motivation.

While looking for a tried and tested diet that fits you, you should up you work outs, try swimming 2 days a week, and set small goals i.e. distance or time for each week.

Once you have found a diet that you think will fit you, you should discuss your plans with your physician and may arrange for regular check ups during the diet.

Hope that you can use the advice, and the best of luck in your quest.

Herik Jonsson.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Just remember persistence is the key. Remember this is a life long goal of healthy eating and exercise you are embarking on.

I appreciate the responses guys, everything you said is sound advice. I'm usually able to work out as much as i need to (ie. 45mins of cardio, lifting etc etc) because i've always been athletic, eventhough I'm big. I was just hopin to get a few tips and it seems like i've achieved that, thanks again guys =)
