Getting frustrated...

I am getting frustrated.

I have lost about 11lbs now. I started weighing myself weekly after about 1 month on a diet. In the first month I lost 8lbs. The following week I lost 3 more pounds. Then I gained a pound and this week I've lost a pound. I have not changed my eating habits or anything and have continued to exercise. I haven't even increased my weights when strength training so I wouldn't think that I'm gaining that much muscle.

What is going on???

Why am I not losing at the same pace as a few weeks ago. Am I starting to hit a plateau already? When did others start to plateau?

I've been drinking more water...can that be a reason why the scales tell me I'm not losing?

Don't distress sweetie! :) I had the same issue, I think we all have at some point. Even though you haven't increased your weights or anything, you're still developing muscle. I know that personally, one week I gained 3.4 lbs, then the next week I lost 4.6 Soooo don't worry girl. You'll get caught back up. Just keep working at it and doing what you're doing. It always comes off quicker at the beginning.

Your right on track!....

I did the same thing,..as did totallyscrappy if I recall correctly, as did many others. Usually you will find a big weight loss in the beginning,.some say it is water,...I think when we are not "dieting' or watching what we eat we eat alot more sodium than we realize and it retains alot of water. Nonetheless, they say on average you should not loose more than 2 lbs a week, however if you are heavier this amount can be higher as it takes a higher caloric intake to maintain a higher weight, provided the metabolism is working.

I often find if I have a low weight loss one week the next week I take off a lil bit more provided I am doing the same thing. Sometimes it just takes the body awhile to adjust.

Drinking that water, eating small mini meals/snacks, and watching your portions of protein, carbs and fat. And well of course get that body moving.
Will keep the weight coming off. Its ok to hit a plateau and give the body a rest, as it needs time to figure out what is happening and learn to work under its new conditions,..then it seems like it gets fired up and starts going again.

You really have to think of this not as a diet but as a lifestyle in order to take the weight off and most importantly to keep it off. I said this before, its doesnt matter if I reach my goal by September or December if I am going to do this for the rest of my life.

Patience you will get there,..you are doing great :D

What do you mean?

Which should I be eating more of during the day?

On fitday there is a pie chart of those and which part of it should be larger protein, carbs, or fat?

I would aim for about 25% fat, 45% carbs, 30% protein. Or something around there, one big thing is getting healthy fats that arent saturated and all that bad stuff. On carbs ya want stuff like brown rice, oatmeal, and stuff that isnt processed so much, and a big no to sugars, fiber is always good too lol. Protein is best gotten from lean meats and chicken, protein from lean cuts of meat/chicken are the best, and if your having trouble getting enough protein, whey protein really helps me get my 250g of protein daily. I have like 3 shakes a day because I cant afford too much higher quality foods. Tuna is also good and cheap.

Stick to fruits ;)

During my weight loss, I would eat frozen fat-free Cool-whip. It satisfied my ice-cream fetish. Sometimes I would have it with strawberries or raspberries.
Right now, I love the Mountain High fat-free vanilla yoghurt. It is absolutely delicious.

Hey--and by the way, have you tried some of the Safeway brand Rice and Corn Cakes? They are awesome--and an awesome way to get your fiber. Try Apple-cinnamon!

Good luck!
