Genetics or not?

To compete for the Mr Olympia title (yes i know they have had to won mr universe etc...) do you need to have great bodybuilding genetics or aslong as you put in the time and dedication it takes you`ll make it (ofc i know some people will have a body that looks nicer than others but forget this)

does winning at the top level depend on genetics in the end or can the regular people compete(again provided they do what it takes)

Yes Genetics are important here to some degree. Not every one can attain a Mr Olympia title. Because not every can attain a Mr. Olympia body.

However that said, you truly never know if you one of the "genetically gifted" until you have trained hard and long enough to reach your "genetic" limit/potential. And do not forget how long these people trained to be where they are. Some train 3-4 hours a session for 8-10+ years before they have perfected their bodys to Mr. Olympia standards.

Yes it is partly genetics, and yes they do put everything in to it and train very hard, but there is one more factor which seperates them from REAL bodybuilders... Steriods. Tonnes and tonnes of steriods.

For a more realistic veiw of what a human can achieve without steriods take a look at natural bodybuilders.

But then even these guys could be a lots bigger, its just that they have to keep the fat down to a minimum.

It is the same as any sport, yes you have to have good genetics to compete at the top level of any sport however you also need to be putting in the time and dedication as well. You can have all the genetic advantage however unless you put the effort in it won't mean ****

edit in relation to steroids, yes the majority of them would be cycling the stuff and as far as i know their is generally no testing. That said it is still going to come down to genetics even with the steroids, all steroids do is help you train more, and when everyone is doing it the advantage is taken out and if nothing else it even more highlights the genetic differences between competitors, but natural is still more impressive

Guys that you see in bodybuilding competitions you'll find would have been fairly big before they started lifting weights. Even on the juice not eveyrone can be arnie, so yes, genetics play a huge role in determining how big you can get.
