Gaining myself back!

Hi! I'm 39 and after I got married eight years ago I gained eleven pounds. I was overweight in high school, and I went on Weight Watchers my sophomore year in college. I lost over twenty pounds and kept it all off until then. Here's what I did to keep it off for over ten years:

1) Weighed myself daily.
2) Didn't eat foods that I was addicted to (CHOCOLATE, refined carbs, etc.)
3) Went for frequent "power walks" and did daily workouts at home (arm curls, sit-ups, leg lifts, etc.)
4) Didn't snack after dinner.
5) Didn't use food for anything other than nourishing myself when I was truly hungry.
6) Didn't diet. Ate until I was truly full.

The thrill I got from feeling good about myself outweighed the temporary highs of junk food.

After I got married I feared my husband wouldn't like my healthy cooking so I started using more fats and refined carbs. He was in the military at that time and things were stressful, so I turned to food once again beyond nourishing myself. I stopped weighing myself daily, then completely. Ten pounds came quickly.

The thing is, I still look OK, but I have never been OK with my ten pound weight gain. Plus, I want to look fantastic, and that is OK, too! I don't feel as healthy or energetic. I never used to dread the three way mirror in the dressing rooms. I no longer feel confident in a bathing suit- I cover up. I'm addicted to Dairy Queen and pizza.

I haven't been able to take off the ten pounds over the last eight years. I tried Weight Watchers about four times over the last four years, but it has changed so much since back in the day and it no longer works for me.

Now it's time for me to get myself back before I turn 40. It's only going to get harder as I age, so now is the time! I've started using fitday to track my calories and nutrition.

My goal is to lose eleven pounds by July 4th- Independence Day! I will do this by limiting my calories to 1600 a day on average and do all of the above things that worked for me for so many years. I have also taken a secret series of "before" pics of front, back and sides.

I really want to regain control of my body and health. Junk food is nothing but nicely packaged sweet talking lies.

My husband pointed out, after hearing me complain about my weight gain after marrying him (clearly it's HIS fault! ;) ) that *I* am the one shoving the food down my throat.

I'm looking forward to finding inspiration on the forum!
