So just a little background on why I've signed up here tonight:
Today, I went to my doctor's office for a checkup and to do some blood work. As the nurse preps me, my BP (blood pressure) is taken while she asked me some general questions. But when she asked, "approximate weight?" I had two decisions: I could lie and ball park my weight as in a social setting or tell her flat out that I didn't know.
I told her, "honestly it's been a while, so let me jump on the scale." In my head I thought, "yea I may have gained about 5 pounds or so".......but I was dead wrong! The scale shot up to 249lbs (my heaviest I've ever been in my life!) and a red flag was raised. I need to make changes, and as stubborn as I am, I don't want to be the overweight person who gets sick and ends up living in the hospital, or be "that guy" who can no longer ride the roller coaster at amusement parks due to weight limitations
A friend told me about this site and I plan on getting a gym membership (this week actually) along with cleaning up my diet. I have set long term goals with my friend and hopefully we will be down to our target weight (or as close to as we can) by the time our annual river trip rolls around in May. Through this website I'm hoping to share my story, and gain some friends along the way.
A lot of people may think I'm crazy for starting to diet with the holiday's right around the corner, but, to be frank my house is divided at the moment so the big turkey dinner is probably something I'd rather avoid this year. Screw the nonsense of dieting and working out come the New Year, I'm fired up NOW and for the rest of you also embarking on this journey of lifestyle change, let's make it a memorable one
