I love that you signed off as Happy'ish! :D

Yep BMI seems a particularly daft way of rating things. My bad cholesterol is below normal, my blood pressure fine, glucose levels fine, and for my size I’m still pretty fit. Yet every doctor I’ve seen in the last few years has dwelled on me being obese and unhealthy.

Happy’ish kind of sums it up perfectly for now!!

A good day today.

No bad foods.
Breakfast - grilled tomatoes on toast (whole meal), cup of tea
Lunch - grilled chicken and halloumi cheese in pitta with salad, iced tea
Snack - 1 pomegranate, cup of tea, two slices of cheese
Dinner - jacket potato with cheese, salad and a glass of wine

About a hour walking and 12 laps of the swimming pool. Somewhat tired now!!

Plus I found an app I like the look of - called Body Tracker - it allows you to input weight and key measurements (you customerise what are key measurements for you) and shows progress/graphs/goals etc... I like it because I didn’t want one that I had to put daily calories in as well. But I wanted to track bust/waist/thigh measurements etc... oh it also allows you to put in photos for particular dates so you can compare them side by side over time.

I’m quite looking forward to getting home for a weigh in! And to take my measurements for the first time - after all, I’m not actually SO bothered about how much I weigh, more about what size I am and what clothes fit and look like on.

5 days without chocolate, sweets etc..

A couple of days without posting...back from hols now and recovering from a long journey.
However very pleased that I didn’t eat anything unhealthy or “treat” like on the plane or at the airport - just plain chicken salad wraps that I’d brought with me from the apartment.

Now I’m back home and finally jumped on the scales - down to 232.4lbs from 240lbs 10 days ago. Woohoo! Makes it all worth it. I know once I get momentum with weight loss, it really strengthens my resolve.

I’m going off again next week for a 10 day holiday which will involve lots of open water swimming - at my weight I’ll apparently burn over 2200 calories a day...!! So, might have to eat a bit more to get through the day without fainting!

Food today has been ok...
- couple of slices of cheese and tea for breakfast
- 86 cal wonton soup mid morning
- chicken and mushroom potato pie for lunch (246 cals). Two cups of tea
- roast beef dinner - lots of veg and not much gravy but I did have a Yorkshire pud. Oh well. Can’t be a saint all the time! Lime and soda to drink.

I think I’m going to try and cut down on dairy as I suspect I might have polycystic ovaries - need to go and get it investigated but in the meantime, going to try for a lower GI diet, spearmint tea and low dairy as that is meant to really help.

8 days without chocolate or sweets!

Hey guys
Good day today - no bad snacks but not denying myself meals either - slow and steady progress I think. If I go too strict before I’ve got used to no sweets/chocolates then I run the risk of going “oh sod it” and binging just because I ate one thing wrong.

Food:
Breakfast - cup of tea, two toasted crumpets
Lunch - small starter of whitebait and dip, plain steak and small amount of frites, water (was out at a restaurant with my mum)
Snack - 2 x baby bell cheeses
Dinner - grilled chicken and lamb shish, pitta, lettuce and tomato, tablespoon of coleslaw, small bottle of cider

Does anyone have two sets of scales that show really different amounts? I work away and my scales there show 4lbs heavier than my ones at home. Obviously I prefer the home ones and I guess it’s weight loss I’m measuing not start and finish weight. But it irritates me that they are so different. Debating which to throw away and replace.

I’m down a hole on my belt so something is happening! Going to start running tomorrow..

Sensible thinking.

That´s pretty normal (and the reason Weight Watchers made sure to tell us about their standardized scales). Both could even be off by two pounds.

Hello there and congrats on your good start!
My Dr's scales and my scales at home are about 3 lb different. At first it bugged me but now I'm used to it.

Great start! You will hit that 230 mark way before December if you stay with it!

I bought a new set of whiz-bang scales about a year ago & they said I weighed an extra 3 kg, so I gave them to our older son!

Delighted to see your posts and your success. I like seeing someone who thinks that a size 14/16 can be a desirable target since that's the range I am in and don't feel a need to go further. Keep up the good work. Amazing resistance to sweets!

I'm happy with 14/16 too, as I think that is my natural size. I was that all the way through my very active & fit teens. We shouldn't think that we have to conform to some generic size & shape.

Yes, I always been a size 14 - but size 14 was way smaller when I was a teen! Seriously, they have really increased the measurements for the sizes as boomers got older I think. But I agree that a diversity of size and shapes is good.
