From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Q you are on the way to becoming slim & healthy. Whatever the charts say about BMI & waist measurements be proud that you are taking positive steps to move forward. I think you are doing really well. You have changed your mindset. You are determined & committed. I feel privileged to share your achievements & glad to be a part of your cheers squad. Go Q!! Cheers, Cate.

Thanks Vee! I'm very pleased to be below 300, but it has happened too many times to be to excited. I'm just focused on the next goal. I measure at the navel as it is the largest measure for me as well. What I read says to measure at the widest point so that's why I measure there. The good news is that you are well below the minimum measure for elevated health risk.

Thanks Jen! It happened really quickly which makes me happy. I rarely notice the height difference anymore, but I do notice that people remember us when we meet them as a couple vs individually. I can hold my elbow level with my shoulder and rest it on top of her head. I don't as that opens the ribs up to her elbow, but it's been established.

Thanks Cate! I really appreciate all of your support! I do have a different attitude now. It only took 22 months for me to get here. I look forward to needing your expert advice on maintenance. You'll have a lot more practice by the time I have questions.

Okay so today is 298.8. That's -34.4 pounds for the year and -5.4 since last Wednesday.

Yesterday I ate right at 2,300 calories with a big late lunch being the lion's share of them.

No chips and no soda and nuts have been small measured amounts only. I didn't work out this weekend, but the 4 runs made me need the break. I also worked all day yesterday in the house with just the one break for lunch. My wife finally accepted that she needs to part with her too big clothes so she filled a huge bag for donations with a little help from a few more of my clothes. I got rid of all of my shorts that weren't snug. I won't be wearing non-running shorts much until next year. I doubt any of them fit, but the loose ones sure won't.

Ran hard tonight. It felt good. That's the quickest I've been since pre knee BS.

Ate a huge dinner and just made 2,300. My stomach was growling while I was running and I was really grumpy by the time I ate. I need to have more than 1,300 calories before dinner. Now I feel stuffed and I wold not be surprised if I have a cruddy weigh-in tomorrow because of the big meal late. On the plus side I won't be going to bed hungry.

Ha! I'm no expert, that's for sure. Pig-headedness is my strength/weakness! Also, my maintenance is not skinny. I am not skinny, but I am comfortable & happy with my weight & size. I am at the weight I was through most of my teen years & 20's. Being skinny would entail absolute hardship, lots of obsessive exercise & no wine!
Changing my mindset took about 20 years, so you're well in front! I think I'll get rid of my signature now. I would hate anyone to think that I think I'm any sort of expert on weight-loss! It is such a struggle for all of us I think.
You are more than welcome to my support Q. Cheers, Cate.

You lost your weight and you're keeping it off. That makes you an expert. Everyone struggles but most don't succeed. Skinny is subjective and I'm sticking with my labels. :)

297.0 this morning. -7.2 pounds in 6 days. I'm getting a real jump on keeping the 2 pound a week average for the year.

Damn, dude...that's a good ass week. AND, you finally made it into the two-hundies (I'm only saying "two-hundies" instead of "two hundreds" because I loath people who say "hundies" with any amount of sincerity in their voice and I felt like being ironic for a moment).

You've been doing really good, man. I know that you've had your ups and down (haven't we all?), but I hope you can see how amazing you're doing. Keeping a 2 lb per week average is a HUGE accomplishment, especially for over 10 months now. I don't think you realize how HARD that is to do - but you're doing it. You're doing it good too. Hmm? What's that LL Cool J? 'Doing it good' is improper grammar? Well, how exactly am I supposed to say it?

Ooooooh, 'Doin' it WELL...'

Thanks Jen!

Nice video and I'll take the compliment Chef. However I need to point out that I have lost 0.51 pound a week this year prior to this week not 2. The plan is to lose 2 per week for the rest of the year. That will give me a 1.1 pounds/week average for the year. Saturday will be the end of week 41 for me, but already the loss so far this week has improved my loss average from 0.51 to 0.88.

297.0 pounds again this morning. That's 7.2 pounds in the first week of counting calories. I couldn't ask for more. I'm feeling hungry most of the time and pretty tired too. I'm running tonight.

I know the fatigue and the hunger are part of the adjustment and I just have to stumble through it a while longer and I'll feel great.

Pop is gone for good. I haven't missed it for a second and there is no reason to drink it. I also haven't had a single chip for a little more than a week. I have had one coffee with calories last weekend. I didn't like it because the sugar made me feel jittery when just the caffeine doesn't and I crashed pretty hard and was super hungry later. You can keep your soy pumpkin spice lattes. Black coffee suppresses my appetite and leaves more calories for good nutrition. It's also a lot cheaper.

Thank you Vee! Thank you Cate!

I finished the 30 minutes. Stomach started to hurt less than halfway through. Not fun. 2,300 calories for the day.

Hey Q, meh for the stomach aches while running but otherwise: wowww! Really glad to see the knee is doing well and congratulations on changing the first digit!

Thanks LaMa! It's great to see you around again!

295.8 this morning. That's -37.4 for the year and -8.4 for since last Wednesday (8 days). This over a pound a day business won't last long, but I'm enjoying it while it does. the stomach feels better this morning. I think it may have been sinus drainage upsetting my stomach as my Fall allergies are in high gear.

I've been cold while the weight has been dropping rapidly. It's 77 and humid at the moment and I a wearing two shirts and a jacket zipped to the collar and wish I had a heavier jacket. Between being cold and the allergies I'd rather be in bed.

Loss rate is up to 0.91 lb/week with 2 days to go until my "official" weight for the 41st week on Saturday. I'd hit the 1 pound a week with another 3.6 pounds lost. I won't make that, but I am happy how quickly I am going to reach the 1 pound mark since that was the end of year goal.

I had forgotten how cold I used to get while I was losing weight. It makes sense really. There goes the fat layer! 295.8 Q? Excellent! xo Cate

Awesome drop again! I've been freezing all day, but I think that's more to do with the fact that it's like 45 degrees here. lol! I do remember being colder than normal when I was losing all my weight before though. I was frequently bundled up in 2 or 3 layers. Anyways, glad you're feeling better!

Well I'm wearing a long sleeved shirt with a coat zipped upped this morning and it's in the high 70s (25C) and warming. I'm still a bit chilly. My feet mostly. I'm trying to use hot coffee to stay warm. This winter is going to be bad.

295.4 this morning. -.4 from yesterday and -37.8 for the year and 0.92 lb/week average.

I ate a little less than 2,300 yesterday.

I haven't been transferring my calories and keeping my average on here, but I am keeping up with it. I have a fixed breakfast which I enjoy and I carry all of my lunch and snacks with me so that I know how many calories I have left for dinner first thing in the morning. I come up with the number and only eat the food that I bring and that means I'm not counting calories or worrying over how much I eat until dinner. I generally leave myself 700-1,000 calories for the evening. This allows me to have a big meal when I'm really hungry and to come in a bit under calories when I'm not. I'm not trying to eat less than 2,300, but occasional under calorie days likely make up for any error in estimating calories or if I go over.

My first planned day to possibly go over on calories is Thanksgiving (11/27). I may just have a piece of fruit in the morning and eat all of my calories for the day in one whopper of a meal. It would be nice to stay at or near my calories for then too.

That's about 7 weeks from now.

NEW GOAL

My goal is to not have a single day over 2,300 before 11/27. That's 48 days starting today.

Doing outstanding Q!!!

I sometimes shiver if I'm somewhere with the air conditioning turned up a bit. I guess I live in the right place for someone with an aversion to cold.

Thanks buddy! I used to be hot all the time. I think the absence of meat and alcohol along with the rapid weight change as of late is to blame. It may be a tough winter for me, but I'll take it.
