Hi all. I'm back but as i couldn't find my old thread i've had to start a new one.
So i've recently been back up to where i was when i started this whole diet thing on this site last year in about march. Things got particularly out of hand with my sisters visit but she's not due back for a year so i've got all year to keep things under control.
I don't really need to be as low as 58 but it would be nice if it happened. I know that at 68kg my bum looks big in everything but worse are my legs.
Anyway I'm going to follow a slightly modified plan from my last one. I just been on a vipassana meditation retreat and I'm taking my cues from there. On the retreat we had a big breakfast, a very big lunch and only 3 pieces of fruit for dinner. So this is what i am going to try to do now. On the retreat of course one didn't move very much so I am not sure yet if my fruit only meal will work or not. If i find i'm getting hungry i will probably eat something light. On the retreat i was never hungry.
Typically i would eat porridge with stewed prunes and full cream milk for breakfast. If there was yoghurt, i would have some of that too with a piece of fruit. Here at home today, i had porridge with prunes and milk and after a crumpet with butter and honey. A cup of expresso coffee with lots of milk.
For lunch on the retreat we had a lot to choose from. There was always brown rice, salad, lots of vegies and usually some sort of lentils or pasta or some other carb food. There was also always seeds which we could sprinkle over things. I didn't have the desserts but now that i'm home i might add a piece of toast with butter and jam or someting like that at the end. Today I had 1 cup of brown rice and brown lentils. For flavour i added garlic and balsamic vinegar. steamed pumpkin and beans with a bit of olive oil on it. My salad was grated carrot and beetroot with a dressing of lemon juice, olive oil and a spot of honey. I had tea afterwards.
I going to see if i can go without my usual daily glass of white wine. On the retreat of course we didn't drink anything and i haven't been drinking anything lately.
The danger times are wehn i go to town. Then i usually get more hungry. The other day when i got hungry not so long after lunch i had a banana smoothie made only with milk and iwhtout all the usual honey and icecream or yoghurt. That was a good hunger quencher.
On the retreat I laernt a technique which i can use to help me deal with hunger. the idea is that you learn to be equanimous when you have either irritations or cravings. If you are interested in this, i strongly suggest you do a 10 day retreat yourself. They are run globally. and payment is by donation at the end of the course. If you want to kick start your diet with a change of food habits, its a good way to start and everything else is an excellent bonus. You will learn a whole new way of understanding and being in the world. A much happier way.
One of the thigns i've decided to do is to make my life even more simple than it was before because i have figured out that i am happiest when my life is very simple. this means less tv and less internet. I already don't work and don't have a hectic social life but i am also aiming to not be too busy so as to avoid stress. I have my garden to work in. But i am thinking of taking up some volunteering work and painting. Today i started a painting for myself.
