Allo, WLF!

I doubt anyone cares, but I figured I'd write the cliché newbie post.

I've avoided weighing myself for over a year.
However, after a trip to the vet earlier curiousity got the best of me:
I weighed myself (on the dog scale, lol) & the number almost made me throw up, :puke:.
Why did I let myself go like this?
In January of 2012 (just 15ish months ago) @ 5'9'', I weighed a beautiful 135 pounds.
Now?
I weigh 175!
These 40 pounds have really fucked with my self-esteem, :(.
Things have gotten so bad I find myself withdrawing.
I've gone as far as to deactivate my FB & change my #.
I don't have a *good* reason for gaining so much weight, either!
Everyone goes through break-ups, disappointment, job loss, etc., you know?
Before I lost control, I used to be a gymrat.
My Fri nights were spent running laps & doing squats.
I was happy.
I'm going to do whatever it takes to get back to living that healthy lifestyle.

Welcome to the forum, lovely! I'd suggest starting a diary in the diary section of WLF. It's a great place to meet people and to share ideas, successes and food logging :) Good luck!!

Welcome to the forum.

If you are still a member of the gym - then that is the ideal place to start. If you can just get the gymrat back then the rest will follow. You loved it before - so you will love it again.

As you know - exercise releases endorphins that make you feel good. Once you exercise and get that - you are very likely to want more of it... There may be a social side of things down at the gym too which could encourage you to go... Also - I think that consistent exercise will mean that you get good weight loss results (if you are otherwise good) which would encourage you to stick with it until you get back down to 135 where you know that you feel comfortable.

Good luck with your project

My prob is that right now?
I can't afford a gym membership.
All I really used it for was the environment, networking, & socialization (even if you spend your Fri nights there you *feel* like you did something, you know?) because most of my running is done outside.
I have a dog so I try not to run @ the gym.
Right now, I'm just trying to get back into running!
