Can anyone explain a very strange phenomena??? Friday i weighed 234, Saturday I weighed 234, Sunday i weighed 236!!!! How can a person put on 2lbs in 24 hrs?????

I watched my cal intake, and walked 4 miles yesterday. I did have some alcohol last night but measured exactly 300 cals worth and didnt even finish it all! There were no treats or massive portions - if anything my appetite was smaller than usual yesterday....i just dont get it!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's going to go up and down not only for the remainder of your weight loss journey, but your entire life. I would say water retention is a plausible reason.

not everyone can or should weigh themselves on a daily basis...

Spend some time reading around the forum - this question gets asked and answered frequently and it gets the same answer every single time.

Just what geo said

Weight fluctuations happen -

Thanks Geovicsha and Mal :)

Took a look at the weigh yourself every day post and it looks like everyone fluctuates - it's just so annoying! Hopefully it will even itself out in a few days and maybe even go down a bit! :D:D

If you're female - pay attention to your menstrual cycle as well - and keep track you will see a definite pattern there as well

As they have said - a lot of people gain around the time of their period. You also get gains from things like how much sodium you eat (a lot of processed food is high in sodium) and how regular you are in your toilet habits.

Okay, this is going to be gross, so I'm sorry ahead of time...

This morning, before I to the bathroom, I weighed myself and I was 301.4. Then after I went to the bathroom I got curious and decided to weigh myself again. I went down to 299.4 lbs!

So you see? It could be water/food weight.

You should expect to go up and down within a few days. If you weighed on Friday and was 234, and then say, weigh again next friday and was 236, well then that might be a real problem.

Nope. You can have random scale variation even weighing weekly. I had a big deficit when I was losing (about 700 calories a day), and lost right about 15 pounds every 2 months for 8+ months straight. And on more than one occasion, I'd have a higher weight (sometimes much higher) than the same day of the previous week. If you weigh once a month, you're probably not going to see a higher weight at month-end than month-beginning if you're losing, but for periods shorter than a month, the scale going up doesn't mean you're not losing weight.

71.2 lbs lost, well then you should know better than me. :)

In any case, you're right. If you're doing all the right things then it's certainly not real weight gain. Many factors such as the climate, menstruation, water weight, food weight, muscle gain, etc can contribute to the scale rising.

Tinkerbell, maybe you could try keeping track of your measurements. So you can really get an idea of what you're losing. And don't measure yourself after exercising cuz your muscles can be bigger.

Very true about the cycle thing. Right after I got my period the scale said I lost 3 pounds! It was all the water I was retaining.
