Weight gain due to less exercise and lots of eating. I played sports in high school so I was in shape, but as soon as I entered college, I didn't have time to play sports cause I had a part time job... so eating plus no exercise made me gain all that weight. :( Lately, I have been feeling chest pains and unhealthy, so I decided it was time to change!

Day 1:
Starting Weight: 260 pounds (crap)
End Weight: 258 pounds

Breakfast: 3 eggs, sweet potato
Lunch: 5 grilled shrimp, 8 oz steak, salad
Dinner: Large Bowl of Pho, 2 spring rolls
Exercised after Dinner: 20 minutes of elliptical machine, 30 minutes of shoulder/chest weight training- doesn't seem like much, but I was drenched in sweat and exhausted! I guess I have to build up over time.

PS- Knew that Pho was bad, but the temptation!!! Oh well, I'll try to diet better tomorrow.

Day 2

Woke up early, went to work.
Breakfast: 4 eggs with 2 slices of cheese and spinach
Got back from work at 3.
Went to work out, elliptical machine for 30 minutes, then weight training for 30 minutes.
Lunch: 1 whey protein shake
Friends called to play basketball.
Played for 3 hours.
Dinner: 1 cup of green tea, 1 cheese stick
Exhausted... hope I don't eat everything in sight tomorrow.
End weight: 255

Good night!

Day 3

Didn't have work today, so I woke up pretty late.

Breakfast: 2 eggs, spinach, cheese, and 8 oz steak
Workout: 30 minutes elliptical, 45 minute leg weight training
Lunch: 1 protein shake
Dinner: 2 eggs, spinach

My face looks smaller!!!
End weight: 254

lol did you actually just lose 6 pounds in three days??? thats crazy. it does look, a little bit, like you didn't eat much today. have you counted calories? just would hate to see you crash. :)

i always notice it in the face first too. congrats. keep it up.

Day 4

Actually it's been several days since I posted, but thanks for the encouragement! I have been really busy and sometimes I find it hard not to grab something fast on the way home from work, since I don't feel like cooking... I guess I need to fix that part!

Ate fast food 4 times, other times cooked at home. Worked out every single day, except for friday for a much needed rest (same things: elliptical machine, weight training, basketball, and hiking).

End Weight: 250
For some reason I feel really bloated, and it feels like I gained weight for some reason... huh?

Hi. I know what it is to not feel like cooking. But i now have the luxury of plenty of time to do it and since i've given up eating all sugar, i actually feel like preparing more interesting foods. I don't spose that's relevant to you though as you work and lead a busy life by the sounds of it.

What's wrong with pho? isn't it a light soup with noodles? I wouldnt think its bad. Better than all those steak and eggs especially if cooked with oil. When you have eggs, do some grilled tomato as well. You need more vegies in your diet. Actually i love grilled tomato on toast just in itself.

If you have to eat on the run, look out for salad sandwiches and skip butter/marg and mayonnaise and stuff like that. For yummy flavour, ask for avocardo. Its a fatty food but unsaturated fats which help with cholesterol and its also rich in vitamins.

Vietnamese spring rolls are good healthy food, especially the vegetable ones, if you like vietnamese. I love these.

I have a good vegetable recipe on my dairy near the top that you can cook up and get quite a few serves out of. Ratatouille. Its french. Its yummy and easy to prepare.

Good luck. I want you to succeed.

Pho is full of sodium which will explain feeling bloated. The thing with ordering Pho and other take-out stuff (you did order it, right?) is that you can't see whats been put in it. Like the quality and leanness of the meat. But it's not bad for you in moderation :)

Make sure you eat enough calories :p

Day 5

Thanks for the advice! I am trying to throw in more veggies into my diet, and I'l try to avoid eating too much red meat. I'll also try to avoid foods high in sodium and salt.

For now, I'm not going to weigh myself everyday, but every week.

Breakfast: Apple, Milk
Only worked for 4 hours, then got home early :)!
Lunch: Stirfry (Chicken, Shrimp, Corn, Green Peas, Spinach)
Snack: Bag of Peanuts, 1 Bottle Powerade Zero, 1 can Lo-carb Monster (About to workout, plus only got 2 hours of sleep the night before)
Went hiking! Decided the weather was too beautiful to work out inside!
Dinner: Soup (Tofu, cabbage, sprouts, mushrooms), Sparkling Water, Green Tea

The biggest difference I am noticing is the ability to push myself more. I remember the first hike took me about 2 hours with multiple rests and stops. Today, it took me a little over and hour and I only rested 2 or 3 times.

Also, I am getting cravings really bad between meals, it took me all my energy to not stop by and grab some fast food. Any ways to lessen these cravings besides trying to eat a little of it? I tried before, but I always eat too much or continue eating poorly. Once I slip, I slide all the way down, haha...

Day 6

Sorry I haven't posted. I haven't been keeping up with the diet, but I have stayed at 250, and have been active everyday.

It's been crazy, I got accepted into med school, so I've been drinking and eating so much for the past week. I guess it's a good time to get back on the wagon. I'll start recording again soon!

Wow congrats on being accepted man, that must be awesome! Don't fall into that emotional eating trap though!

I Have!!! I was so happy, I've been eating and drinking with my friends too much!!! And I know beers are the worst too, since they are just empty calories!

Thank you for the congrats!
