Forum Newbie!!

Hello All,

I have been doing weights for a long, long time and never really done a lot of cardio work.

Didn't really need it, as when I was playing Rugby and then football(soccer to Non-UK peeps) did a lot of training which kept me fit enough.

Since I stopped doing team sports a few years ago, I have started back doing Kyokushinkai karate and this is why I now feel I need to get fitter.

I normally do an hour of 5 a-side footy, which on top of two 1.5 hour karate sessions a week keeps me fit enough. This has been in addition to about 45 mins of weights 3 times a week.

However, as I am progressing up the grades in karate I need to get fitter. Also 5 a-side footy has stopped until September.

Therefore I have been doing 30mins of cardio 4 times a week, and weights 4 times a week.

I have been doing this for a few weeks, and have been looking around for advice on cardio in particular.

Hence I found this forum today, and already have seen some good advice especially interested in HIIT.

So sorry for long post, but hello and any advice most appreciated :)

My nutrition needs a LOT of work!!

I don't eat a lot of crap, don't get me wrong. But I am very old school i.e. 3 main meals a day.

Also, I tend to enjoy a beer too much.

Reading on here today, 6-8 meals a day is recommended. Need more research into this, but presumably 6-8 very small meals or is it 3-4 main meals with snacks/shakes in-between?

You want all your meals to be equal in calories. Depending on your goal, find how much calories you need to take in a day and divide that by the number of meals you want. Its easy to break it down more from there as far as protein/carbs/fat go.

I would say enjoy your beer once or twice a week. Are you just maintaing weight?

Cheers Derwyddon :)

p.s. Is that a Welsh name?

C-Mayhem:

yes I am really, maybe losing a couple of pounds that are hanging around the midriff. Not that I am exactly overweight - 5'8" and 170 pounds.

I don't go mad on the beers, but I have a couple to chill out most evenings.
