Forum Bullies...

not really.. 1200 can be a lot of food if you choose properly and it can fill you up. If shes just looking to loose weight by food alone then the calories need to be low.. if she will work out and eat right then 2000 is perfect..

Thanks...

bring your cals down to 1200.. unless your ripping it in the gym and burning 1000 cals their i'd really consider a lower caloric day

Thanks for the advice, my God that is all I was asking for. I was on the "ALLI" diet for a month and that was the calorie intake required for me to take in considering my height/weight. That is why it was set so high. I really wasnt trying to insult people or step on any toes, I just know that there are sensitive people out ther and forums that are nasty can scare them away. Its kinda like religeon...touchy subject. dont make it look like a evil cult.or you could pass up the oppertunity to help a soul out ya know? DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN?

Dough - check the stickied thread in the nutrition forum - there's a link in there to a formula called Harris benedict (or just google it) this will help you determine what your caloric goal should be based on your current weight and activity level.

First you get your bmr - that's the calories your body needs to just lay aoround in bed all day -then add on activity...

When people come into the forum - not following forum etiquette followed by every forum known to man and common sense by reading the stickied threads in the forum - and gettiing uptight about established members reactions to fad diets - you're kinda gonna get back what you put out.

had your first post been asking for help - by giving stats and goals - you'd have had a different reaction...

I am not sure I would take this advise.
Pretty sure 1200 would be rather low for your size. Not an expert though- my opinion.
I am sure someone will be around soon to check this.

Agreed. At her height and weight, her BMR (I assumed an age of 25, since it wasn't posted) is at 1882, so an even 1900 lets say for sedentary. I don't know if she works out either, but lets keep going...

20% reduction puts her at about 1500 cals for the day. You could go to 1450ish, which is a decent reduction. 1200 seems fairly low and being at 1450 gives her room to go even lower if the 1400 range doesn't work.

That there is some good advice! Thanks! It respectfully will start me off with a new attitude around here! You deserve a:beerchug: did I mention that I am 38 yrs old b4? I dont go to the gym due to finances, although I am able to do moderate workouts and as soon as the weather warms up I will be walking briskly for a few miles...Bad circulation or I would be doing it in the cold! I'm one of those gals that has a booty...lol, thats my struggle! Since my brain surgery aug.2006 and quitting smoking Nov.2007 I have been off work and gaining in the belly also. Can ya hook me up with some advice on that?

In the exercise forum there's a thread or two devoted to home workouts and body weight workouts -you don't need a gym...

Spot reducing isn't possible - fat loss just doesn't work that way... fat leaves your body where it leaves no matter what the cover of the magazines at the checkout stand will tell you...

Get an account at and keep track of your calories...
