? for those that have lost a lot of weight: cold sensitivity

I think it will. My brother recently lost 25 pounds and although he was a little chilly at first, he seems to be OK now. Maybe he's just dressing differently, though ...

when I lost 125 lbs last year right when I hit that final 125 I weighed 175lbs during december, if you live in pittsburgh in december/january those are by far the worse months of the year :(... I caught the flu and got really really sick.....

I do not think my body was used to being what size it was, but in general I hated being cold it was completely different from when I was fat to skinny.... so far a year later my body has adjusted and its not so bad, but at first it was terrible!!! Dress warm!

This is probably normal, as there isn't as much fat to keep you warm. It goes vice versa with overweight people: They're usually warmer since they've got fat on them.

I remember when I lost all those pounds years ago, I felt much colder. These days, I'm an air conditioning fiend. I keep my house air conditioned all year around at 68 degrees during the winter and 67 during the summers.

If my wife didn't mind, I'd have it down to 65, though. It's definitely the fat insulating your body. Now that insulation is gone.. I do remember my tolerance increasing a little bit after being skinny for a while, but not that much.

It may be safe to assume that you'll be able to tolerate 2 degrees colder than you currently do, but no more than that, probably. When I was skinny, 70-72 degrees was my "comfort level".

I used to be the person that was sweating sitting still, who wore sleeveless in winter and would laugh at people who would be dressed in layers complaining about how cold they are.

God loves a joke, or so they say.

Now I am cold. Freezing, can't get warm no matter what I do sort of cold. I am the person I used to laugh at...I don't recall being like this last winter (I was 50lbs heavier then) so I would definately say it is weight loss related. I haven't found a solution, animalistic sex excluded ;), hopefully next winter I will be used to it.

Definitely.

Before I started losing weight I was always too hot. If we were staying at my girlfriend's parents house it was a nightmare because they always had two fires on and I would literally be sweating buckets. I would be walking around looking like I'd just stepped in from a rain shower.

Now I'm constantly cold. I visit my parents' house less because they like it cold. It's now so cold in their house that I have to warn them a few hours in advance that I'm coming and I have to bring a jacket!

Those are the two extremes though. I usually can find a way to keep myself warm in other places, but there's definitely a huge difference in my body's temperature. It surprises me because I was always the type of guy who prefered the cold over the hot. Give me a bitter cold winter with no breeze over a sunny summer with no rain was always my motto, but now that I've lost a bit of weight and am in the middle of a cold and bitter winter . . . !

the opposite is true for me. I'm not as sensitive. I used to be very cold when outdoors, now not so much.

However, I think my diet has something to do with that, not the weight loss.

I definately feel colder now I've lost so much weight!!

The main reason for me though is clothing...when I was
bigger I used to always wear a Hoodie or a jumper, (even in summer!!!) I guess I thought if I wore more layers it would cover up the fact I was huge..mhmm awesome logic me thinks!!

Anyway, I now finally feel comfortable in just wearing a T-Shirt (and jeans of course, not walking around 1/2 nude...yet ;) ) so feeling the cold for the first time in years.

:)

Definitely colder, esp. my hands and nose. How weird is that? They are checking me out for Sjogren's syndrome and Raynaud's syndrome, but I suspect is it simply related to weighing so much less.

Still, I WOULD RATHER BE SLENDER AND WEAR GLOVES THAN FAT AND SWEATING!!! hee hee

Cheers

I'm always cold!
And that's before losing weight, if it's true you get colder as you lose the weight, then I should invest in an eskimo type jacket now! :D

It's interesting tho, reading everyones responses here. I guess it never occured to me that body fat has something to do with how the air around you feels.

And here I thought, I was the only one that's always cold... definately feeling a lot colder now (could it be that it's still winter time?)

I'm always cold! I hope it doesn't get much worse after I lose more weight. I already have a heater blanket under and above me in bed. lol.

I always thought it was weird how guys are generally way more warmer than us girls. I've known quite a few that I've considered my personal bed heaters. (Not like that, you dirty people)
