fnmkids weight loss journal

It all started when I was on a cruise. I saw all these young people my age with their great bodies having fun in the sun while I had to spend most of my time away from the pool and too much time at the buffet.

I've had a gym membership for awhile that I'd use sporadically. The day I got back I figured it was time to really start to work on it. Today its Friday and for the first time in forever, I've made it to the gym 5 days straight.

I've had to change my diet as well. Recently I moved out of my parents and got my own place. As it is there isnt a lot of money to be thrown towards groceries so there was a lot of fast food. I bought some cornflakes and some skim milk, some whole grain bread, and a multivitamin.

So far this week I've done pretty well in dieting. I've drank a ton of water and cut out almost all the bad food (i had one night where i got a mcdonalds burger but that was it). I'm a little concerned I'm not eating enough calories but I'm still adjusting.

At the gym I'm basically doing a full body workout with 30 mins on the crosstrainer MWF and HIIT on Tuesday and Thursday. I think its working out pretty well, can't wait to see results.

Will update next week.

Good start! I always find that the combo of healthy eating (I don't like to use the word "diet") and and increase in exercise helps me lose weight. Either one by itself doesn't do as well.

Fast food is fast, but its really not cheaper than good food from the market. Find some fresh veggies and fruits that you like and buy some for snacks and to have with meals. Some supermarkets also have roasted chicken for not too much more than uncooked chicken, so that may be a more economical choice for you than fast food.

I have a natural sweet tooth, so I like things like carrots, most fruits, melons, etc. All are pretty cheap when they are in season, so I try to duplicate what our forefathers did ... eat foods that are in season, when they are cheapest. That gives me plenty of variety, and I end up looking forward to summer for nectarines, etc.

okay i'm falling off the wagon again. i've got so many things on my mind right now and eating right hasn't been one of them. i've run out of healthy foods in my kitchen and i'm starting to fall back on one or two meals a day, and usually they aren't all that healthy even if they do have some protein.

ive noticed a small difference already which i think was from last weeks eating/excercising. i missed going to the gym yesterday because i was putting it off. ive got nothing better to do then go to the gym tonight so at least thats some progress. i get some motivation from going on these forums and seeing everyone else and the progress they made. hopefully i can get back into the swing of things.
