Flyer's diary

... Sorry about the pants not working out Flyer, it's a struggle out there. I do think it's difficult to get pants no matter what your size though. We all need a good tailor I think!
i'm not sure if it's just my skin cells finally catching up to my weight loss, or the recent push toward 160, but just this morning i was lamenting not taking a picture 6 months ago, because i believe i can notice things are getting smaller there, ... but certainly not breaking any speed records. my biggest beef with non-cargo pants is the lack of pocket space. still looking around for a messenger-type bag.

Oh, I love that, about your skin cells catching up with your weight loss! Yes, yes!
And warm congrats on the noticeable thinnerness! Don't worry about speed records - it's real and maintainable difference that counts!

i think i am forgetting that even when i hit the high 170's, my loss was down to about 2-3 lbs/month and it will likely be exponentially smaller now. i should be ok with my averages being solidly in the mid 160's now. a new low may not be on the scale for a while yet...

Cool photos. There's something about hummingbird photos that seems vaguely miraculous.

On cargo pants - man do I love those things. It's a real tragedy they are considered so un-stylish.

You're doing great with your weight - I'm bumping around 170 and haven't seen 163 in a while.

so i have a visual update on my 66 year old skin elasticity... not that i'm going to post the picture, but on 12/20/18.... 11 months ago... i took a picture of my leg when i had it crossed/ twisted a bit. today i tried to duplicate the pose and while i still see some wrinkling, it is MUCH less pronounced now. so especially to those who are shooting for more than the 25% weight loss i succeeded at, give it time. the ability to "spring back" is still there, just much slower.

re: my hummer picture... someone at Wiki did some post process editing and i'm not all that pleased they didn't ask, but it wasn't a bad edit. just glad i think i got the ID right. the picture i submitted was much datker and it was basically just a guess. hummingbirds are tough to ID as the same species can have many different color patterns not only depending on sex, but some are seasonal, too.

Excellent news!

This is great news - I have long believed this - that as long as one isn't into extreme old age, the skin retains elasticity - not nearly as bouncy as young skin of course, but given time and moderate exercise, loose skin will pull back. Thanks very much for passing on this confirmation.

That's a pain about the Wiki edit. Infringement of your rights and just plain bad manners - not outright theft, at least, I guess. :(

MUCH less pronounced
I am happy to hear that, right now I am losing weight way to fast for my skin to catch up. Hopefully one day it will. However I would rather have lose skin than the fat. I suspect the ability to "spring back" is age related, so your news is particularly good for me.

Hm, slower compared to what? Did you lose a similar amount when you were younger?
in my early 40's i had a similar weight loss, though i did that with extreme exercise. i was biking, including 2-3 days of hill climbing, about 200 miles a week. i believe i also remember putting a halt on many junk foods at the time, too. i think i remember dropping from about 215 down to 175 or so. at the time i cannot recall any major skin wrinkling and i was actually dating someone at the time, so i'm sure it might have come up. but again, that was 25 years ago.

well if this is the worst i see after the abusive eating/ drinking i did on Sunday, i'll consider myself lucky...

have to admit... fun at the time...

another good week for expanding the vocabulary... but aside from Scrabble, i can't really see much use for these words conversationally after this year...

feckless - lacking initiative or strength of character; irresponsible
sycophant - a person who acts obsequiously toward someone important in order to gain advantage
obsequious - obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree.

Been watching the impeachment procedures? Pretty sure I officially learned all three at some point.

Been watching the impeachment procedures?...
have to say, 50 years ago if i was asked if i'd be watching my 3rd impeachment hearing before seeing someone land on Mars i would have thought they were nuts. the mixed media messaging is certainly different this time. though i can admit to having favorites, i tend to watch a variety of opinions both domestic and at times, international,... but i see a growing social problem with those who get information from only one source shunning other as being "fake".
