Flyer's diary

i consider the availability of fresh herbs at Ralph's, but this evening, snipping the rosemary and crushing up a few leaves, it's nice to have a little aromatherapy on demand.

not sure how i missed it, but looking up thyme... at least some sorts, maybe... are ok with direct sun. that's an herb i could really use...!

Home grown herbs are always better than Ralph's. But store bought can still be good.

well i can't say i didn't see this coming.
most months i drink a few beers on maybe 6-7 days.
pretty sure i doubled that rate the past few weeks.

like i mentioned in another post... for me, drinking carries a dual burden... not only are empty calories a direct result of quaffing alcohol, but it's use typically leads to some unfortunate nutritional decisions.

You are right about alcohol, but I doubt a few extra beers over a week can lead to a fat based weight gain of several pounds. I am sure you'll be back down again soon.

I was also up a couple of pounds this morning for no apparent reason, I don't think I had any alcohol last week. I know it won't last.

i was going out the other day and while loading up my pockets, i reflected back to the good old days... it used to be wallet and keys. now it's wallet (i actually don't even have a full wallet, its only a slipcase for cards), keys, some folded bills, reading glasses, sun glasses, phone, ear buds, pill case (i use an old Altoids box), pen, and at times, some California approved recreational material ( ...& lighter). plus i often carry around a newspaper and i'm starting to wear my floppy hat everywhere since my hair has been growing out.

i'm very close to looking for an excuse to carry around a "man-bag".
frankly i'm even closer to not caring what sort of comments i get, either.

pretty sure it's mostly water weight... i've been on a popcorn kick recently and i have a very heavy hand with salt.

i remember some gym bags around, but i can only recall a few European kids in college carrying around knapsacky-type bags. in retrospect. i think i would have liked a small backpack for school. i had one... for camping... but it was on the huge side.

i wonder if companies realize how powerful a you-tube review (or better yet, 2 or 3) can be. my shoulder bag, on better inspection doesn't look like it will be a good candidate for everyday use. it wasn't a real quality bag even new, and i can see some stitching that looks to be close to failing. still ok for the little i use it, but think i'll be buying a better one....

with some great reviews... so far this one is leading... Saddleback Leather Co.

Definitely. It´s why they pay "influencers" good money to say nice things about their stuff.
good point.... i would say i get more than a bit of good information from "some" bad reviews, too... not the silly nit-picks, but it's not that hard to recognize the more sincere reviewers especially when seeing a diverse history. i've been burned by a few cheap deals, but so far when i've been looking for something quality, i'm glad i've been able to avoid some brands that are still & falsely riding on their past reputation.

an impulse buy from my last shopping trip... might be ok.

will start them soaking this afternoon... have to get to the store tomorrow morning anyway and will pick up a few things to finish it off.

in case anyone was wondering...
Contains 15 of these bean varieties: northern, pinto, large lima, yelloweye, garbanzo, baby lima, green split, kidney, cranberry, small white, pink, small red, yellow split, lentil, navy, white kidney, black bean.

bag search has now expanded to 3... one larger and one smaller... i can think of uses for all three... this is getting frustrating.

Men hardly need to carry bags - they have pockets! I get very envious when I look at the number of pockets which can be slipped into a man's jacket - though I guess that doesn't cover summertimes. when nobody wants to wear a jacket. I use a shoulder bag most of the time, not a backpack, because I don't want to have to keep taking it on and off to get things when I'm out and about, but a backpack is probably better for weight distribution.

like the saying goes, you can make a small fortune selling jackets in SoCal... if you start with a large fortune.

the closest i come to extra pockets... or pocket... is that i sometimes wear an unbuttoned Oxford-type shirt on cooler evenings/ one pocket... or a sweater/ no pockets. if i drank martini's i could probably pull off a blazer and jeans, but not my kind of place. cargo pants are naturally one solution, but again, they have their places and it's not everywhere. i bought a vest for fishing one time that had so many pockets, i used to spend half the day looking through a dozen or more before i finally forgot what i was looking for.

hence... the need for a man-bag that will feel comfortable everywhere. ...and it doesn't even have to match my shoes. ..:)

That bag of beans would only tempt me to try growing all of them in my garden - which I haven´t got. How are they ever going to cook at the same time? Looks very nice though. As does the bird. I´m assuming the cat is where the bird is looking?
Edit: Amy´s tiny green cat is much nicer :D

:hurray:

Is the cat very little, and green, and sitting just below the cat?

:)... i'll assume you meant "below the bird"? .... funny how the minds seems to see stuff that isn't there. ...some of the Mars rover photos come to mind.
