Fluctuating weight question/weight loss help

Hi, I'm in desperate need of weight loss help.
I'm a 15 year old boy, I'm 5'2 and I weigh 180 pounds.
The only weird thing is, I've noticed that my weight fluctuates a lot.
It'll be 180 one day, then 175 the next, then back to 180, then up to 185, and so on and so on. My friend has told me that it's normal but it's just confusing me. Can someone clear this up for me?

Also, for the weight loss help; I have a bad habit of not exercising (I'm REALLY lazy) and I eat whenever I want. I have recently gotten a job that involves me standing all day, and always moving and I walk to work and back everyday (It's about half a kilometer away). Sometimes, I even push myself to run to work, and push myself until I can barely even breathe but at the end I feel good about myself.

At school, I usually try my best during PE (running laps as best as I can, etc.) but nothing is working for me. I even sometimes intentionally not bring my lunch or not eat breakfast when I get desperate enough. I know it's unhealthy but I feel really bad about myself.

I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be at a healthy weight and to be able to maintain it.

So please, please help me.

Weight fluctuations are quite normal. Don't weigh daily, it just increases your level of frustration. I weigh weekly and it seems to work for me. Most experts will tell you that if you are losing a pound or two a week, you are experiencing satisfactory weight loss.

You need to set goals and develop a plan to get there. Skipping meals shouldn't be part of the plan. It is generally recommended that you have more smaller meals rather than deprive yourself. When you cut a meal, you end up overeating at the next meal and lose any benefit of a lessoned calorie intake. With more smaller meals, you aren't as hungry and tend to eat less. It sounds backwards but it does work well. If I have 3 meals and snacks in between, I'm never really hungry and I eat quite a bit less. I have less tendency to binge when I eat and I eat quite fewer calories.

:iagree: with Cookn - skipping meals has no place in your healthy weight loss! I applaud you for getting started on the road to better health at such a young age. YOU CAN DO IT! It's great that you are now getting in some more activity - it makes such a huge difference. As for your eating, how about the approach of less junk food, more healthy protein (ie. not from greasy burgers), and way more fruit & veggies. And NO POP!!! :smash: It seems that these can be big traps for teenagers...

Best wishes on your journey! :auto: And you might as well not weigh daily. Weekly might be better, as you can have water weight, waste weight, salt retention, etc. on any given day.

Cheers
