-- How much weight do you want to lose? - 46 lbs.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? 6 months

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Exercise & portion control

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? I don't know. I don't feel like I'm in control at all, & when I need to talk about it, those closest to me blow me off.

-- How realistic is your goal? Extremely. I've done it before, I can do it again!

-- When will you start? I started TODAY!
  1. What is your current height and weight?
    5'6", 181 lbs
  2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
    135 lbs.
  3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
    145 lbs.
  4. Why do you want to lose weight?
I no longer like myself, I have a harder time getting around, I feel sore all the time, & I'm generally less healthy than I used to be.
  5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
My fiance & I are talking about setting a date for our wedding & starting a family (probably within the year). Not only do I want to wear a light & airy beach wedding gown, I also want to have a health pregnancy.
  6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
    Complacency & exhaustion
  7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I've been ignoring my own convictions, & I've been "punishing" myself for gaining weight back by overeating to gain more weight, ultimately resulting in more self-hatred.
  8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
A regular, doable exercise program. I've never in my life ever ever ever ever had to lift a finger (or a weight) to be in shape. Suddenly, my thyroid has practically stopped, & my metabolism is totally screwed up. The ONLY way to get it back on track without prescription meds is through exercise.
  9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Yes. Portion control & increased fiber intake.
  10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I gained the weight back because I believed that once I lost it, I could go back to eating whatever I wanted.
  11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
True diets do NOT work for me. I feel too restricted & don't want to stick to them. I do best when I cut my portions down, & work toward a specific date-oriented goal.
  12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
I think this is a genious idea. It forces us to REALLY look at everything we put into our mouths. I think it is also important to note what is going on at the time you are eating - what the circumstances are (ie: family get-together, working through lunch, sadness, depression, boredom, etc.).
  13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
We have just begun to cook at home. We were eating out every evening, but we've moved to a very small town where there aren't any options. We now cook at home 5 nights per week. We are vegetarian, so we cook a variety of healthy veggies & grains. However, I'm learning that just because you're veg does NOT mean you can eat all you want. They are still calories!
  14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
We eat out about 2-3 times per week. We go to a variety of places, but our favorite is our little town's Mexican Restaurant. Whe I lost 25 lbs before, I forced myself to give up Mexican food, soda, & french fries. I lost a ton of weight off of giving up these 3 items alone.
  15. What are your three favorite foods?
    *Refried Beans
    *Fettucini Alfredo
    *Cheese
  16. What are your three favorite restaurants?
    *Noodles
    *PF Changs
    *McAlisters
  17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
    *Eat smaller portions
*Eliminate dairy from my diet again
*Try not to eat from my emotions
  18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I would feel like a person worthy of a happy life
  19. Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Yes - I eat all the time, even if it is a can of beans! I love to eat, but I'm never satisfied after a meal. I always either want something that tastes "better" or feel guilty about eating something I really wanted.
  20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
Rarely - but it has happened - probably once a year
  21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
    No.
  22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
Yes - usually chocolate treats, then I switch to something salty, then back to chocolate - vicious cycle
  23. Do you eat as a reward?
Yes - didn't our mothers always "reward" us with a special sweet treat. We are conditioned that way, & also to "clean our plates." It is a TERRIBLE mindset to try to overcome.
  24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Yes - everyday - every meal
  25. What do you normally eat for a meal?
2 cups of raw or steamed veggies & a can of beans (lunch)
    Isagenix shake (breakfast)
    Anything goes (dinner)
  26. What type of snacks do you eat?
This I'm good about! Usually a small handful of nuts, a peanutbutter & honey fold-over, a piece of fruit, something healthy - if I'm truly hungry. If I'm depressed, I hit the dark chocolate stash my boss keeps on my desk.
  27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
I just started last week walking 3 times a week for 20 minutes on the treadmill.
  28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? Home - I'm WAY too clumsy & embarrassed to be seen in public attempting to exercise.
  29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
I consider exercise complete torture. My FAVORITE exercise is the rise & fall of my chest as I nod off for a much deserved nap or long night's sleep.
  30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
    Self-loathing
  31. Do you have rewards for certain goals?
I keep telling myself that if I get to 135 again, I will allow myself to purchase ALL new clothes! An out-&-out shopping spree! Anything I want, name-brand....This promise is still valid - I've been looking forward to this shopping trip for 4 years.
