I am new to this forum, and wish I knew of it during my period of weight loss. I lost 90 lbs from 316 down to 225 in around a year, and did it with no gimmicks. I used sensible eating, and large amounts of physical activity. Once I lost enough weight to start running again, I recovered the joy of running from my youth, and just never stopped. Now I am an avid ultra runner, running trail races from 31 - 100 miles in length.
I have a detailed blog and a book now about my experiences...it has been a great ride, and really, I am just getting started!!!
