Hi Everyone,

I started my program one week ago. I stepped onto the scale this morning and was pleased to see that I have dropped down from 101Kg's to 95Kg's. Sure, much of this weight loss can be ascribed to water retention etc, but my jeans a looser and my shirts fit better.

How have I done ti so far?

I ate 7 meals a day, religiously. Normally I would grab something on the go, and when the evening came, I would stand in front of the fridge and graze like a grizzly bear until I was within an inch of exploding. Then, come the weekend, I would give in to the "treats" that I was not having during the week. I would be getting that chocolate and having pizza with the kids. Well, no more. Ontop of this, I have been plugging 45min a day on the stairmaster and throwing in weights on alternate days. My challenge now, is to completely stop any alcohol. My wife and I will usually sit on the porch on Fridays and Saturdays, get into conversations about God and the world, and have a couple of drinks. While this is a ritual that I would be loathed to just drop completely, I will move away from beer and wine and just have a whiskey. I know that I should not be talking about booze on this kind of site, but we are still people and sometimes there is a bit of therapeutic "good" when we socialize.

I will keep you informed as to what is going down next week with regards to the tale of the tape by posting some pics. Right now, they are of a chubby guy who is looking a little less chubby than before. - To quote the old cliche:" The journey to great things has to begin with a step..."

Have a wonderful week

Not to put down your impressive progress, but 11lbs in a week is a bit to fast. Also 7 meals a day is a lot of meals. How big are these meals? I think I can save you some time in the gym. Have you ever tried high intensity interval training on the stair master? All you do is alternate between working very intensely for 30 seconds, and taking a break for 1 minute. That fact that your working so hard lets you cut the workout down to 15 minutes max. Perhaps you lost a lot of water weight, or maybe having a small glass of whiskey is very low calorie. If you need any extra help check out my blog howistayfit.blogspot.com. I used to weigh 260lbs in 2009, but today I am 160lbs. All it took was some hard work, and a little knowledge about the food we eat.

Great work so far, impressive.

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your comments. I agree with you that this is too much weight. I also believe that a lot of this was water retention. Interval training is something that I plan to implement in week 5 of the 12 week transformation that I am doing. I have found that if I ramp up the intensity too quickly, I am prone to getting sick, as my resistance drops. Right now, my gym routine is a 5 day split. I do cardio on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. I am only one week into this, and would like to proudly present the week by week changes as these occur.

I will keep you updated and once again, thanks for the input.
