Finally here and needing support!

Hey everyone!

My name is Rose. I'm 18, 5' 9'', and about 163 lbs. My BMI, while still normal and not overweight, is in the higher range. In September, I'm going into an intense acting program and I really want to be fit and thin in order to feel good, be prepared, and avoid the freshman 15. My goal is to lose 18 lbs (weigh 145) by the end of August. I've wanted to lose weight throughout high school but never have been successful. Strangely enough, I am pretty happy and confident with my body right now (I haven't always been...) but I'm still doing really well in terms of keep motivated to excersize and eat well. I guess low self-esteem doesn't really fuel inspiration. Either way, I'm happy that this will finally be the time that I'll do it. It would be really helpful for me if I get active support from people so comment on this post, read the journal/diary thing I'm gonna start, share your motivation, goals, and plans with me and I'll try to support and motivate all of you guys too!

Thanks everyone! Glad to be on this journey with ya! :)

Hi Rose! I'm Cassandra. It sounds like we have similar body types and goals (I'm 5'8", 156 lbs, want to be down to 145). I would recommend keeping a diet and exercise journal and sharing it on here. I haven't been on the site long, but the people are very supportive and from what I've found, very educated and willing to help. Also check out caloriecounter.com, they have a great iphone app and online website that helps track the food and exercise we take in daily, which will help you achieve your goals faster.

Chances are, if you're like me, getting to that 145 will be a little tougher than losing the first 5 or 6 pounds-- so hang in there!

Cheers!

Thanks Cassandra! I've got my journal started and trying to keep up with it. At the begining of the summer, I was around 167, so I've already lost about 5 pounds and now I've hit a bit of a plateau so I definately know what you mean about it being a little tougher. I just hope that I can stick with and try not to be discouraged!
