Finally determined to lose this weight

I cannot believe how many excuses I have made in my head for NOT trying to lose weight (again), and even more so - to exercise and get back into good physical shape - again.

I've joined this forum for the community support, for suggestions, and for motivation! I have started checking things out, but see there is so much to offer that I am just a bit overwhelmed. If anyone would care to point me into some good areas to read, and to post so I can get suggestions, it would be much appreciated.

At this point, I am essensially starting a weight loss and exercise program from scratch - I have no plan in place, and need one! Looking forward to meeting you all.

Simple ways ot get started

right on sailAway!

It takes some serious guts to look your excuses in the face and flip them off. I tip my hat to you.

The good news is that starting off is a good place to be. Almost anything done with some effort and consistency is going to produce some results. So get ready, get set and go.

Here are some tips to get you started:

1. get moving! fat loss is not exercise specific, so don't get lost in the maze of "what exercise should I do for weight loss." Instead just get moving! Start a nightly walking routine, wash the car every day, shoot some hoops at the local YMCA with a buddy, take the stairs instead of the elevator, whatever! The more you move the more you burn.

2. Take steps to keep your energy level up. so get enough sleep, have fun with friends, limit your TV watching (a real energy drain is the news) and make sure you eat enough.

3. Look to limit the "junk food" in your home. bottom line; if it's in the house you're probably going to eat it. So give it away, share it with friends or just throw it out. It's either going to waste in the trash or waste in your body so better in the trash.

4. I created some quick free videos on things I wish I knew about weight loss when I started out years ago. I really wish I knew this stuff back in the day. it would have saved me so much trouble.

:party:Firstly, congratulations on your wise decision. I hope you find the motivation to make it through.

There are tons of materials on weight loss all over the internet.

I wouldn't consider buying any product at this point - except books. You want to know what you are doing before you leave.

Links are not allowed here -- or so i thought, so all i can tell you is google weight loss and you will get lots sites with valuable information.

If you need specific sites, PM me.

Thanks to both of you! I know I can lose weight with a diet - I've done it before.... only to be so overwhelmed with the challenge of keeping the weight off, then totally beating myself up mentally as the weight slowly came right back. This time around, I am determined to lose weight without feeling like I am dieting - so really, a lifestyle change.
