Feeling a bit optimistic

Hey everybody! My name's Barbara and I'm currently a student in college with a major in International Relations. I've been struggling with my weight since I was a kid, and I've been trying to diet with little success; what usually happens to me is that I'll diet, and then I'll stop dieting and binge - then I gain the weight I lost. I would like to lose about 30-35lbs for my first major goal; but I would like to lose a couple pounds a week (I heard that that was the safest way to do things).

...

So, that's basically it. Hopefully I'll stick with it and see y'all on the forums.

Welcome to the Forum, Barbara! This is a great place for support and motivation. *smile*

Are you planning on running for weight loss? (like your username) Good luck with your plan - you can do it!

Another Newbie, saying hello

Hi there, I saw your post and thought I would say hello. Have you decided what your going to do to lose your 30 lbs yet? If not, I highly recommend trying ballroom dancing. I found it about ten years ago and I absolutely love it! When I first started I went from a 42 inch waist down to a 36 inch waist in just 6 months! I got to meet a lot of people and had a fantastic time. I was also dancing five nights a week and almost flunked out of college, but that is besides the point. I am still dancing, but not as much so a lot of the weight has come back :(. I am sure that you will be successful in your quest to lose the weight. Whatever you do, I wish you luck.

Hi Barbara,
Welcome to the WLF!

Breaking your goals down to smaller batches has definitely helped me. Having a 5, & 20 pound increment has me reaching for *attainable* successes!

Good for you for starting on this journey, and best of luck as you reach your goals!!

*OHD waves* Hi! WELCOME TO WLF!! So glad to have you! You CAN and WILL do this. You really have to believe that it's not about "dieting" it's about changing your lifestyle. You're well on your way and we're here to help you!

Best of luck! :)
