fed up with yo-yo effect

Hi everybody! I decided to join this forum in order to receive some extra motivation on my weak days. I am trying to lose 6kg (11 pounds). It seems easy, but it's not! I lost them last holiday, but I re-gained them when I started working again. In my case, it's all about stress, anxiety and loneliness. Those negative emotions make overeat.
Today is a weak day because I am having my PMS. How do you avoid overeating on those days? How do you cope with loneliness with out finding "company" in food?

Thanks in advance!

First off, welcome to the forum!

The good news is that you already recognize that you are an emotional eater. I was in the EXACT same boat as you were a few years ago. Its a really vicious cycle, but you can get out of it. You gotta realize food is FUEL. Thats it.

The key now is to find something else in place of eating that will help you feel comfort. Some people really like to work their aggressions out by running or lifting. I think its a VERY healthy way to vent! Its also going to release some endorphans (sp), which is going to make you feel a little better. That, and the added weight loss isn't going to hurt the ego :p

Anyways, there are a few suggestions. Good Luck!

I perfectly understand your sentiment. I tend to overeat also during my PMS. Instead of eating, do something else such as household chores or go out with friends. Do activities that keep you away from too much food.
Hi, Mat. Thank you so much for your moral support. It's so nice feeling that you are not alone in this fight! I have been eating properly this last three days (though I am on my PMS). It has been hard. It's winter where I live and cold days invite to eat sweet things or hot high-calorie meals. Winter+PMS+living alone+stress versus my renewed determination and willpower to eat the proper amounts and kinds of food. Which is my pay for such a discipline? Feeling better already (not weighting less sure, but feeling less bloated)

Hi, Andy! Thanks for your warm wellcome! Yes, I certainly admit the only reason why I overeat is emotional. The trouble is that ANY emotion triggers my oveating, even nice emotions! "Let's celebrate" means "let's eat". If I am down, the eating period is experienced as a relexing moment. Certainly, jogging on the treadmill is of great help for me. In fact, a couple of days ago I started jogging again and made me feel great, with tons of energy. Well, feel free to give me any piece of advice or just share your views.
Kisses!

Hi Carmen! I wish you luck reaching your goal. It would be awesome if I only had 11 lbs to lose, I really envy you that! :)

Hi, Stacy. Thanks for your support! I know that 11 lb sounds very easy, but, at least for me it wasn´t. It's about 10% of my total weight. So it's very difficult to remove then! And, when I achieveded my goal, I often relaxed and, little by little, regained the weight lost. I know that I 'm lucky of not suffering from health problems because of my few pounds on, but I like running and I need to be in my weight for the good of my knees. Besides, not being able to stabilize in a weight has a bad impact in my mood.
Thanks again!
