Favourite Exercise Music?

Use music you like. I despise metal, so I don't think I'd enjoy listening to it while I'm trying to enjoy my run!

It is, however, generally important to listen to something fast-paced. I usually listen to faster Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin stuff.

Maybe try "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem.

My music choice is rather funny. I am clearly not a hip hop/house person. (!) But for exercising its the only music I listen too. It has a certain beat that I can exercise to better than to the music that I listen to. And then I think about all the hotties in the music video (haha --> I'M A GIRL) and I'm all in :D

When I jump on the treadmill, to avoid getting bored I stick on a playlist of fast and slow tracks and adjust the speed i'm running at accordingly, I suppose you could call it interval training. Here is my current playlist (I change it up almost every week to keep things interesting):

Pride FC opening ceremony music (always first on the playlist, get's me really psyched up)
Coat of Arms - Sabaton (moderate pace - 6mph)
Angel of Death -Slayer (same as above)
Hand of Doom - Manowar (slightly faster 6.5mph to 7mph)
Blood for Blood - Machine Head (mix it up between 6mph - 10mph)
The White Hare - Seth Lakeman (walking at 4mph - recovery for next running round)
Eater of Days - Brother Von Doom (6mph)
Through the Fire and the Flames - Dragon Force (6mph)
Triumph of Sword and Shield - Hammer Horde (mixed 6mph - 8mph)
Desire in Violent Overture - Cradle of Filth (6mph - 9mph)
Glass Spirit - Nucleus Torn (walk 4mph to warm down and then stretch)

The whole playlist lasts 54 Minutes, and on average I cover about 5 or 6 miles depending on how much effort I put into the fast parts of the run. It's definitely a good way of motivating me to push myself when i'm actually on the treadmill, I just wish I had the motivation to do it more often!

I develop various playlists on my ipod. One day its 70s funk and disco, another its heavy metal, hip hop/rap, classic rock, 60s psychedelic, etc. Sometimes I just do random songs from my entire ipod library (3500+ songs). You never know what's coming and you might have to hit the next button several times, but it keeps it interesting. Music is a great motivator. I look forward to the music...the exercise is just what I do while I listen to it.
