fats at night?

i read on here that you should save all fats ( obviously good fats) to the evening? is this true and if so why is this? thanks

you shouldnt "save" them for the night. eat them throughout the day as normal. but you should eat a pro/fat meal before bedtime because it is slow digesting and will help keep your metabolism going while you are asleep. Your last meal should contain as few carbs as possible

lol have i been doing it wrong: i have been eating a high carb, low fat meal b4 bed! ><. is it true that this is the best fat loss technique for everyone?

your high carb, low fat meal should come as your PPWO meal. usually an hour or so after the workout. This should NOT be your last meal of the day.

Yes, it is best for fat loss. Beacuse while you are sleeping, you obviously require the least amount of energy. taking carbs before you go to bed, will force your body to store them directly as fat because you dont need the energy while you are sleeping. So carbs should come early in the day (cause youll need energy for the rest of the day) and after your workout to restore glycogen stores

i keep on hearing that carbs get stored as fat; but isnt it the calories you take in every day that determine how much fat you gain???
i agree though because you dont need energy at night so y eat carbs???

would a snack of turkey breast with cheese and some peanuts be a good pre bed snack?

thanks

calorie counting is basically a very general way to lose fat. But if you want to realize more loss, and make it as effective as possible, what you eat and when because just as important as just "x" calories in "y" amount of time

calories are just a number to determine how much energy is required to convert the given food into usable energy source. But your body is smart, it knows when it needs energy or is going to need energy. When you are sleeping, and your body is breaking down that food, it knows its not going to need the energy for a while. So it stores it as fat.

But your body ALWAYS needs some energy to sustain all the life functions such as pumping blood, and breathing etc. So if you eat a slow digesting food before you sleep, it will help keep your metabolism going steady and fat storing will be kept to a minimum

Excess calories are stored as fat...but, since carbs are the body's #1 choice for energy, they are more readily stored as fat than anything else. protein's purpose is other biological functions and muscle tissue repair. fats are used for lots fo things like lubricating joints, moisturizing skin and hair, and many other oddball things.

So yes, eating a ton of carbs right before bed is a good way to store those carbs as fuel, quite possibly as fat.

But a protein + fat meal before bed, that provides protein and amino acids to repair muscle tissue while you sleep, which is the ideal time for repair. the fats help slow digestion to make that protien last longer...since as you sleep you're essentially fasting 8 hours.

Some really feel that all your meals should be either protein and carbs, or protein and fat...the former for the first 3 meals , an the latter for the remaining 3 meals of the day. And some people might actually do better on that than fully balanced meals 6 times a day.

Also, if you were going to run a marathon at 7am the next morning, plenty of complex carbs before bed probably isn't a bad idea since you'll need all the energy you can muster.

but for the bodybuilder/weight training guy, in general you should limit carbs at bedtime.
