Fat Calibrators

Hi all.....do any of you use Fat Calibrators?...Just wondering if I should upgrade. I usually do the good ole finger pinch. Pinch the fat then just measure the width/space between the fingers with a tape measure, ruler, or just use a tape measure around waist. Do a fat calibrators offer something different or better?.

I have one and i would say it would be more accurate because it squeezes in the skin before it measurs the fat, where as just using a ruler, it will still add in the skin.

But they are cheap, so i would say get one. But i still question their reliablility. It says i have 7mm of fat on my suprailliac, that means i have about 7.5% bf, which is incorrect, i think its more 9% to me.

Other people may have different opinions?

Kaylee:
YOur method is old and inaccurate! Gather up some money and invest in a good claiper. The lange caliper (metal green) are common--they run about $250, or the digital Skyndex (easy to use) runs about $400.
Still too high? Go to your local sports store and buy come decent calipers or invest in a bio-impedence analyzer (Omron)--runs only $60!

Accu Measure Body Fat Caliper is what I was thinking of getting on ebay...maybe later on when I have the cash to spare I'd splurge. Its good to know however about the ranges of caliphers out there.

They're selling for even lower than that now on ebay (the manuual non- digiatal ones..they remind me of those things we used to use in math class to make a circle ;)....does the Acu Measure help any...or is it just another "gagdet" I'd be better off without..I mean for as low as its selling I guess no biggie.

well i measured myself this arvo and it said i had 6mm on me, which is 7.5% bf, as i said last time, i think thats bull. Id say you can get one coz there cheap, just add or subtract 2% of what ever it says and ull be right :D

6 or 7mm thats like way less than an inch of fat...If thats the case who needs a caliper ;). How do you know whether to add or subtract?.

Haha 6 or 7 mm isint that good, well i guess its ok, but not ideal. But thanx

Im not totally sure. All i did really was looked at someone with 7.5% bodyfat and they had a nice six-pack, i looked at myself and only had an average one. So i decide to add 2%, i think that would be about the only you can tell.
