fast food..

ive been eating alot of fast foods (burgerking, pizza, chinese food)...
if im trying to bulk up and need lots of carbs protein and calories why would fast food be bad?

by the way i dont mind if i gain a few extra pounds of fat since im already a skinny guy...

theres better ways to bulk up than just eating absolute garbage. how? ask spock...shes the only one who can save any of our dieting souls.

I used to think like that too. Fast foods have plenty of bad fats, not the good fats. Your arteries will be clogged, and you won't be in shape. You may look good ont he outside, but on the inside your body will be pretty much crap. Try using the search button, there are plentyt of threads about fast foods. I started one of them actually.

the thing is that im never home so i dont have time to cook anything so i just eat fast food..but i also eat alot of other things when i am at home..like tuna turkey fruit chicken etc..

What i did was buy small drinks in containers and little bags of peanuts and protein bars and other stuff that i can take with me wherever i go. I'm in college, so i'm away from home about 4 to 7 hours a day.

same here. I cant seem to gain weight for anything. I usually go to McDonalds for breakfast and have 2 sausage biscuits, some cinnamon rolls, hash browns and orange juice. For lunch I eat chinese food like egg rolls, fried wonton, sweet and sour pork, and for an afternoon snack Ill have some doughnuts or a King size Snickers bar and for Dinner I'll order a medium thick crust pizza from Pizza Hut with Pepperoni and extra cheese and about a gallon of Mountain Dew. Ive been eating like this for months and I cant get big

There was a news story in 2002 about this guy who ate Big Macs and Coke twice a day every day of his life, and maintained a weight of 150 or so. It's not just about incredible metabolism, it could also just be a different metabolism -- his body might just not be capable of absorbing certain types of fats and preservatives. Could just be that he converts the majority of it into waste.

If you've seen the movie "Supersize Me," then you'll know why it's not good to eat fast food. Wangho says he could be fabricating his story, although there's a guy in the movie who eats Big Macs all the time, doesn't exercise, and manages to stay thin. Well, he may be thin, but he's not healthy. Fast food has hardly any nutritional value, so you're depriving your body of important nutrients that are necessary for muscle growth.

Wangho, if you want to bulk up, you need to eat a lot of food to go with your weight lifting routine, but it needs to be quality food. You mentioned that you eat things like tuna and chicken, and that's what you need more of, along with grilled salmon, fresh veggies, slow-burning carbs like whole oats and brown rice, and some of the good fats, like those found in almonds, avocadoes, and flaxseed. Supplement with whey protein shakes, especially after working out, and if you're taking in enough calories, you'll start to notice a change in your physique pretty quickly.

protein and weight gainer shakes are great for weight lifting. they are designed to get you big instead of just fat. u can get into great shape using those.

I dont want much bulk at all. Dont want to get big.

Remember the Golden Rule: Muscle is Built, and Fat is Burned.

If you think that by eating fast food, you will get bigger, you are absolutely correct! However, it will not - at all - be good mass, and I am a pretty good example.

In my teens, I was 5'9" and a very thin 130lbs. I walked twice a day to and from school, and was in fair shape. In my twenties, I started my decline into obesity by eating too much fast food, and now, at 32 years old, I am an even 200lbs, and am around 25%+ bodyfat.

I'm trying to lose my bodyfat by cardio and weight training. I can tell you that most of my mass was put on in fat, and that means I have to burn it off and build up my muscle mass. So, essentially, I have two jobs to do instead of just one.

Recommendation - for those who are thin, and have little muscle mass - eat healthy, try a balance of protein, good carbohydrates and some good fats. Past that, exercise, get some good cardio, and stay healthy.

When I was 30 I did what you are doing. I lifted 4/5 days a week. I thought, "What the heck! I'm working out!" 64 oz. of Coke a day, minimum, burgers (I love burgers), pizza, mac and cheese, you name it.

Three years later I was trying to diet down because I was overweight, my blood pressure was sky high, and my blood work blew. Tryglicerides were around 800 (no kidding).

If you want to gain muscle get a good protein powder (Bomber Blend at is good), eat well, not just a lot. Try to put on quality muscle, not just weight. Following such a diet might not display itself on the outside, but it could very well clog up your inside.

Good luck with it all.

Over40

By the way, I was a skinny guy.
