Today is my "start date". I will begin my workout tonight with my PT and my diet has already begun. I am really excited to get back in the gym, but am a little new to the "diet" thing, so that makes me nervous. I hope everything goes well.

:waving: Hi Brandon
Welcome to the forum - and to your healthy new life! I've been on my own WL journey for quite a while, and it has gone pretty well. It helped me to have a definite plan in place with regard to my food intake (either counting calories or journaling or Weight Watchers, etc.) and to make my exercise time non-negotiable.

I have also found encouragement watching WL shows like Biggest Loser - so inspiring!

Best wishes on your journey :auto:

Biggest Loser

Hello and thanks for the reply. Funny you should mention The Biggest Loser... I watch that show religiously and I would have to say that some of my inspiration to change my lifestyle, came from that show. As a matter of fact, I watched tonights episode while I was on the treadmill.

I very much dislike Heba... though.

2 days down...

Well, I got 2 days under my belt, with many, many more to come. That gym is starting to feel like a second home to me. By the time I get done with what I want to get done... 3 hours have passed. I do regret, however, the way I came into it... I have been lifting like an Olympic bodybuilder and boy do I feel it. I guess some lessons are truly learned best the hard way.

Start of day 3

I woke up this morning sore but ready to continue my change. This is the start of day 3 and I already feel better... mentally.

My initial plan was to weigh myself once a week on Monday. After a few trips into our shipping department, the thought of jumping on the scale caught my mind. So... i did it. After 2 FULL days of dieting and 5 hours in the gym, I have dropped 4.5 lbs. What a great sight that was to see.

Today is my "cardio only" day. My muscles need a break.

Day 3:

Yesterday was hopefully one of the more difficult days that I will be facing. On top of being sore, I had to fill in for one of my friends on his bowling league. Although it was fun, I did not get to the gym until about 10:15. Good thing it was "cardio only" day. I managed to get out of there at about 11:45. Having to work at 6 this morning, I am drained already. Can't wait to hit the gym tonight though. Working out while watching "The Office"... is there anything better?

Depressed...

I am trying to crunch numbers in my head and it's making me go insane. I get the feeling I am not doing enough. I have been averaging about a 1000 calorie intake per day and I am at the gym for 2-3 hours every night. I know that I need to burn more calories than I eat, but I would have to burn 3500 more calories than I eat, per week, just to lose a pound. I also know that I burn calories all day long, just doing my normal routine.

Am I truly going insane? Or am I doing enough?

given your height and weight 1000 might not be enough, you might want to take a step towards 1500 calories if your there 2 - 3 hours, I know your looking for a deficit but 1000 for 2 - 3 hours of workout IS NOT ENOUGH! That would put you into starvation. What is your workout like if your there for 2 - 3 hours?

My workouts start with weight training. Shoulders/Bi's/Tri's on Monday. Chest/back on Tuesday. Cardio Wednesday. Legs on Thursday. Full body super sets on Friday. Off on Saturday. Cardio Sunday.

I also ride the bike for an hour and treadmill for 30 minutes after every weight training.

if your looking for calorie deficit you should be more worried about the cardio than the weight training, not that weight training is a bad thing while losing weight but should be more focused on cardio.

So, I have made it through my first weekend and it was easier than I thought. It helped that there was not too many temptations that I had to battle. It was nice to relax for a weekend as well. The place where is workout is changing locations today, so I have to find new means of working out for tonight.

Shouldn't I be hungry? In the past, I would just eat when it was "time" to eat. Now I try to eat only when I am hungry... but herein lies the problem... I am never hungry. Is this normal?

Can't wait to get on the scale tomorrow.

I sometimes also eat at that calorie and didnt feel hungry but I usually try to up it. I feel that the first time I try to loose weight, the first week or so, the weight loss is very fast and quite a lot but after that if I eat too little, I will platue. From what I know, im slowing down my metabolism but anyhow I think you should monitor urself. You should ask burneed cause he is one sucess story.

Week 2:

Today is the start of the second week of my journey. I am very pleased with my first week, and cannot wait to step on the scale next Monday. At this time last week, I had to keep reminding myself that I was on a diet... "drink water Brandon" and "don't eat that Brandon". Now, it seems a lot easier to do the things I need to do, without a hiccup.

Earlier in this post, I said that I was NOT losing the weight for a special event... But after last night, when I got asked to be the best man in my friends' wedding, I guess I have something to look forward to. Although he said, "If you look better than me at my wedding, you can't be in it." Hopefully he wasn't serious. :D

Yesterday felt like a good day for me. I ate right, drank loads of water, and had the most energy I've had while working out since I started. I'm not quite sure why my energy was so high, considering I feel like a rabbit with all of the lettuce I am eating. On the bike, I am up to and average of 8 miles and 600 calories for every 30 minutes worked.

I have stayed away from the scale since Monday and plan to do so until next Monday... but... I have to go to the doctor today and I KNOW they will weigh me. I guess I will have to look away and plug my ears when the nurse whispers my weight... with the emphasis on WHOA! :D

At first, I thought motivating myself to workout would be, by far, the hardest part of my diet, but boy was I wrong. The hardest part, to me, is trying eat different things. EVERYday it is Oatmeal, fruit, salad, fruit, chicken salad. What else can I consume that's measurably good for me?

One thing I cannot believe:

I have not had a soda for 10 full days. I used to drink 5-6 per day. WOW!

Entering my second weekend, I am starting to see the signs of my new healthy lifestyle. My energy level has skyrocketed, so much so, that a few of my co-workers have noticed.

I made it through the whole week without stepping on the scale... until this morning. It was rather a good sight though. I am down to 329.5 lbs... which means I am averaging about 1.125 lbs lost/day. I know I owe most of it to working out and eating right, but it can't hurt that I am drinking about 2 gallons of water a day.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Can't wait to weigh in on Monday!
