Extra tummy skin...

I'm losing weight and I'm starting to see what is starting to become an area at the bottom of my stomach that is not tightening up as I lose weight. I know there is no magic potion out there, but has anyone had any luck with any topical lotions? I've been using cocoa butter all over (I have lots of stretch marks too) and it's a great moisturizer but I don't think it's helping. I'm doing what I can, I'm building muscle and eating right. I drink enough water and get enough healthy fats but it's disheartening to be doing so well and everything is getting smaller except my tummy pudge. :(
 
Whats ur diet like? Also don't forget that there is no such thing as spot reduction, and it sounds like you have hit a plateau. Whats your age height weight, and what is your daily calorie intake. You may need to up the calories or reduce them to get off this plateau. =)

For me, I found that situps helped "loosen up" the old age fat around my stomach area. Reversse back curls while laying "front side down" on a large ball seems to help as well. Compression and stretching the stomach area does increase fluid flow ability. To reduce my stomach area size faster, I found jogging longer distances (like 3-4 miles), jogging up hills or adding more resistance / tension to my TM / Stationary bike sessions worked good as well. These "raising the bar" a little higher seemed to break my previous body weight reduction plateaus. And, seemed to help burn more fat skin away as well.

Currently, I do have soom "loose skin" around my belly area. Being this large for 20+ years, I would assume its going to take a while for this extra skin to shrink down as well. If it doesn't after 3+ years, then perhaps a tummy tuck is needed. (????). For me, I'll live with the extra belly skin hanging down.

It might have something to do with your age? Maybe?

I don't know how old you are, but your skin has a natural elasticity to it and as you get older, the amount of "spring" decreases.
 
My understanding is that having loose skin after losing weight is dependent upon a wide variety of factors. The factors that seem to have the most supporting evidence include your max size, genetics, and age.

In my case, I think my max weight was 350lbs or so. I know damn well that I'm going to have loose skin (probably in several areas) when I finally get rid of the excess pounds. Unfortunately, I have yet to see any convincing evidence to support the idea that slower weight loss or creams actually make one lick of difference. Even anecdotal evidence has been hard to come by.

Personally, I think it's best to keep things in perspective. What’s done is done. Now do I want to stay this big and rejoin the earth prematurely, or do I want to lose the weight, look good in clothes, and live a little longer to boot? I chose the later. :D

All of that being said, I'm certainly no expert and am only going by what I've read on the ole "hit or miss" internet. hehe

I guess I phrased it wrong, I'm still losing weight and I'm not looking to only lose weight in my stomach (I know that's not possible). But I'm beginning to see what is start of loose skin that's not getting smaller as I am.

I'm 21, 5'2" and at my highest I was around 200lbs, I'm at 145 now.

Eh. I guess loose skin and not fat is better than fat and miserable. Oh well.

How long of a period of time passed by when you lost that 55 lbs?

I'm asking because you might be losing weight faster than your skin can spring back and tighten up. If so, that would explain the loose skin that you have.
