Exercising Consistently - What Stops You? How Do You Do It?

I've asked quite a few people what their biggest challenges are when it comes to losing weight. I've thought what my own hang-ups are too. One thing that keeps popping up over and over is not exercising consistently.

Some people are tired out at the end of the day and they can't get a workout in before work.

Some people have no support at home from their loved ones and have too much on their plate.

The list goes on...

So, my question is, What keeps you from working out consistently?

If you're doing it, how are you making sure it gets done? What are your 'secrets'?

Hopefully, this will be instructive for all of us!
 
I think this will be a great thread. Lack of consistency is probably the most important and common reason why people don't see results. Too often people think that they have to have the perfect plan in place, or they get too hung up on the details of what workout to do, when it's less important what you do - you just need to go out and do it on a regular basis. And you're absolutely right, Jim... most people have barriers that prevent them from sticking with their plan.

For me its repetition.
I work in the mornings, and get bored easily usually. I don't have a gym membership, So I work out at home. I have a total body gym machine, a reflex boxing bag, and a treadmil. I have a phobia of people always looking at me at the gym, and im cheap lol, so I don't go.

Everyday its the same routine, treadmil, weights, or boxing. it gets old quick. I don't have much time to go out and run on the bike path, unless I wake up extra early. and for me, that means waking up at 4:30/5, and going to sleep at 10, I just get out of work at 9:30 at night a lot and just get to finally socialize at that time.

so short answer, repetiveness.
 
I find to keep going just do something that you find interesting. In the winter i ran on a treadmill with a tv in front and now outside I enjoy the sites.
