Exercise - Stay Constant or Change It?

Just wondering, I've been running 3 miles a day (every day trying to get to 3 miles in a short time then the previous). I was wondering, and I've always heard that eventually your body gets use to the exercise and starts to shut down and the weight lose starts to slow. Therefore, it's good to change it up.

So my question is, do you stay constant with running 3 miles every day or change it up and maybe do some high intensity training every other day?

Sorry if this is in the in-correct forum. Mods please move if need be.

You're splitting hairs. If you're increasing intensity, which you're doing if you're running the same distance in less time, you're forcing adaptation.

What are you hoping to get out of your exercise?

Well just looking to make sure my body doesn't go in to conserve mood and not lose anything (looking to burn body fat more then lbs, but either would be ok).

When I say change, I meant really changing. Sprinting for 30 seconds, jogging for 1 minute, compared to just shaving off a minute or two off the 3 mile time. Sorry I didn't explain it very well.

Your body doesn't adapt to a point where it's so efficient you don't expend energy.

Here's a great article that would be worth a look:
