Nope, it's not needed but there are many reasons to do it and it DOES help.

Remember as you lose weight, you will have to still cut your calories lower to keep the same weight loss speed as you need less as you have less weight.

I don't because of health reasons at the moment (it would be too much impact on my knees in exchange for the benefit.)

This is what I have noticed. I have lost and regained weight a couple of times in my life. I also take my measurments ( I have kept the measurments over the years). When I look back I can see that when I exercise while losing weight my dimentions are smaller than when I don't exercise. One thing I always try to do when losing weight is make sure I eat enough protein so hopefully I won't lose muscle. I always feel better when I exercise.
I don't really like to exercise but I do like walking so most of my exercising is while walking. I do a lot of walking up and down hills as my street is hilly.

The aerobic exercises reduces abdominal fats. You need to burn more calories than you intake in order to lose weight.Regular exercise uses up excess calories that would otherwise be stored as fat.Apart from this exercise also boosts metabolism.Working out has been proven time and time again to help regulate mood, which has a direct effect on people who eat when they're stressed or upset. Moreover, exercise is needed for providing you everyday energy.
