Hi everyone! I am trying to lose weight! I lost 23 pounds and now keep bouncing up 3 pounds down 3 pounds. I want to lose 22 more before I get married this summer....problem is every time I set that kind of a goal for myself...I never do it!! I hope adding this weight loss forum to my efforts will give me the extra boost I need!! I was at 205 lbs...I was at 182 and was back up to 185 this morning!!!!! Happy to be here!!!! Dorrie:seeya:

Welcome!!! These boards are very helpful - check out the diary's for some awesome inspiration and tips.
Thanks for the welcome! I am down 1 pound today!! I made the decision yesterday that I was not going to eat after dinner! I found it hard as I eat most of my food...junky food while watching tv at night....cereal calls my name plus anything carby!!! I wanted to go to the cupboard several times but did not do it!!! I also pushed myself to get on the treadmill for a half hour after dinner...once I am on it all is good...it is getting on it that is the hard part!! Today will be another good day!! I want to get to the 170's so bad now! Little mini goal!! Thank again for the welcome!!

Hey Dorrie, welcome to the forum! And congrats on not snacking on the carby stuff :) Keep it up!

Thanks so much! Going for another evening of no snacking!! Had a great day today...ate properly and exercised!!

Welcome to the forum....

Since you have lost 23 pounds already, it is normal that the weight is bouncing up and down. It is a very good idea to cut down the junk food after dinner as it is totally not good for your weight and health at the same time. Try to replace it with more healthy food such as veggie or drink more water with it. Try not to go up the scale every day at this stage, just check maybe once a week!

Good luck and you can find lots more valuable info in this forum as well! =)

Thanks so much!! I had an eary dinner yesterday and gave in to the snackung after dinner....but I had celey sticks with a bit of peanut butter in them!!! The peanut butter is not the best calorie wise but I am diabetic so it helps hold my sugars at a good level all night.....however I think next time I will drop the p butter...for more veggies. I love raw carrotts but for some reason every time I eat them I get the hiccups!!!!!! Cooked is OK though!!
I am a slave to the scale...its awful! I will try not to get on it as often....I will let you know how I do!!!!!!

celery stick is a very good replacement and I enjoy it so much! That is perfectly fine with peanut butter, just take it slow and you will enjoy it sooner or later. Remember, don't push yourself too hard, and if you are diabetic make sure your sugar level are good... we are trying to get healthy here and you will see the great results from your hard effort... keep up the work and looking forward to hear from you..... :cheers2:

Hey Dorrie, definitely don't beat yourself up about having celery and peanut butter as a snack... in terms of snacks, that's a pretty darn good one! I would actually say stick with the peanut butter, especially since you are type 2 diabetic. The protein is important in terms of stabilizing your blood sugars, so if it keeps your sugars normal throughout the night, you are much better of having celery and peanut butter (carbs, fats, AND protein) than just veggies (carbs only). Another good snack for a diabetic could be a serving of fresh fruit or veggies and a serving of low fat cheese (again, this would contain carbs, fats, and protein - a well balanced snack!)

If you have problems with hypoglycemia at night, then I would encourage you to continue having a snack at night... just be smart about it :)

If you're worried about your peanut butter not being healthy, check the ingredients and make sure you only by peanut butter that is made with peanuts only - no additives or preservatives. You could also just have celery and a handful of unsalted peanuts or almonds.

I think I'm gonna have some celery and peanut butter right now...

Here I am...another evening ahead of me...but I feel great and I am armed with salad and celery sticks!! Thank you soooo much for your support..I really appreciate it!! :)

Don't fret too much over the scale... how do you feel when you eat right and exercise? You can look good in more ways than just being skinnier. A healthful glow is nice, too.

You are so correct! I do feel good when I have exercised....after I work out on the treadmill...I am not exhasted and dragging my butt....I'm walking tall!!! I feel light and good about myself!! Then I smile more and I am happier...whether the scale is moving fast enough or not!! Oh thanks Math Major....you brought out that feeling of confidence in me!!
