Entering new territory - little nervous.

Hi all,

I'm rather new to this - not forums, but the whole weight loss thing.

I'm 19 years old and probably just over 400lbs at the moment - not good, I know. I'm a bit frightened of going on a scale, if I don't know for sure then it doesn't have to be real!

I'm fed up with seeing all my friends getting caught up in romantic lives and not being a part of that, and I think it's time for a change. Not only that, but I don't want to be 30-odd and still fat, that'll do me no good.

I know absolutely nothing about weight loss. I've always been a fussy eater, and as much as I don't think I should blame others for my failures, I can't help but feel like at a younger age my parents should have taught me the value of nutrition a bit better. But hey, I'm a grown up now, need to sort myself out. I'm a Pescatarian who doesn't really like that many vegetables, but I've gotten much much better recently, I regularly eat lettuce, cucumber, peppers, corn, and anything with tomatoes. I don't get a great deal of exercise but I'm thinking of ways to improve on that as well. I would be really grateful for some pointers on starting out, some tips maybe to ease me into this frightening world.

Nice to meet you all. :)

Joe.

Hi Joe and welcome.

I think it's great that you're taking these steps now. I'm not saying it'll be easy, but the younger you are the ... less hard, I guess ... it can be. So good for you.

I'd say start off by reading the sticky posts in the various forums. There's lots of good information there about eating healthy and exercising.

Can you tell us a bit more about how you normally eat? We can offer a lot of help and advice if we know more about you! :)
