Enlisting In The Marine Corps

My name is Micah and I am new to these forums. I have been researching and doing some common sense dieting such as cutting out unnecessary fats and sugars from my daily intake. I am 17 years old and a senior in high school and plan on enlisting in the Marine Corps in November, however I need to be able to do at least 3 pull-ups to pass the PFT. I am really trying at the NROTC scholarship which is reccomended to me by my recruiter that I need to be able to do at least 10. I am around 6-2 and weigh 210lbs, so weight wise I am not too far off but I have been running and doing PT with the other recruits at the local recruiting station and havent been loosing the weight I would like to lose. If I could drop 15lbs by the beginning of November that would be great but I dont know where to start.

I dont drink soda's but do drink the occasional energy drink, other than that its usually a vitamin water milk or sweet tea. every once and a while juice.

I dont eat breakfast and lunches are usually small, but dinners are larger when im not working.

Any help would be appreciated. Sense I dont know where else to start.

You need to consume less calories than you take in. Start weighing yourself every week. If you lose weight, that's cool, if you don't then eat a bit less or exercise more while keeping your eating constant.

You want to be able to do pullups? Can you do any now?

The first thing you need to do is start eating breakfast. By skipping that first meal you'll be making yourself more likely to binge eat later in the day as you get hungry and that can often lead to a lack of control over what you eat.

Planning your meals so they're quite similar in size and calorie value is a good way to prevent ever getting hungry and then over eating

Yeah, you have it backwards; eat breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper. And don't let yourself get so hungry that you engorge yourself. Eat 6 smaller meals / day.

If you can't do any pullups now, do negative pullups until you can do three.

Train exactly the exercises you will need to do. Start tracking calories (freedieting.com to figure out what you need, fitday.com to track) and make sure you're eating less than you burn. Flat out drop the soda and energy drink. Maybe a diet soda or sugar free drink, but that's it.

Eating breakfast is a great way to keep you fuller during the day, like they said. So go with that. Eating small, spread out meals may help, but it has nothing to do with weight loss other than a psychological effect. If 3 bigger meals works for you, do that.
