Ok ladies and gentlemen...this is the end of our mini challenge, Pay It Forward :) I"m looking forward to hearing how everyones stories!

As for me, mine wasn't as grand as I would have liked. However, I did make a cookies and candy tray for all of my daughters teachers (no big deal) and mailman..... but the real pay it forward for me was making a tray for our neighbors. I know it doesn't sound like much. But we've been here for a year now and have never spoke to our neighbors (they're keep to themselves people) But I made them a tray anyways, and gave it to them (they are in their 80's) so I hope they like it

my next door neighbors who moved in like 2 yrs ago dont really converse with us much either. i think there is something wrong with the wife (she's always rushing into the house as if she doesnt want to be seen) but the husband is friendly and says hi and small talk. so i gave them a tray of cookies and told him i wasnt trying to "start" anything as in i didnt want him to think they had to reciprocate or anything, and he looked at me funny like he thought i meant something else lol! so i had to explain and then i said just enjoy the cookies! of course the wife was hiding the whole time i was there probably listening behind a corner or something. the neighbors on other side of me are bible thumpers and try to get me to come to their church all the time. they are the ones by the way who threw me out of their weight loss group. geez why cant i just get some normal neighbors for once?

oh i forgot about the mailman. i tried to give him coffee one day when it was really cold but he would only take a sip and not the cup because he said it would make him have to go to the potty! duh i never even thought of that! so i told him anytime he saw the van in the driveway and if he had to "go" he could just knock on the door.

For me was well.. I've donated any sort of "Cash" I have to the salvation army bell ringers. I've made a point this year of saying hello to them instead of trying to scoot by like everyone else and avoid the sinking guilt of not donating!! :)

Also passed out some large tins of popcorn to our delivery guys at our office, FedEx & UPS for the holidays. They're SO greatful and sweet. These gentlemen come in and are never crabby always in a fabulous mood, every day no matter what! Its wonderful.. I'm so glad we lucked out with our drivers :)

So..anyhow thats m y "pay it forward.." but I think that might be my new years resolution, to keep paying it forward and doing littel things for people like this. It gives ya a nice warm fuzzy feeling. But you girls are reminding me I should of done something for our neighbors, they're relatively new on our street and really sweet. Hmm its not TOO late :)

ok, I did go to visit my "adopted animals" twice. I couldn't just choose one so I spent time going from cage to cage. I decided I wanted to do something that would keep on going so, I found my grandmother's old cookbook and found a recipie for what she called "friendship cake." Basically I make a huge amount of batter, store in fridge overnight, divide the batter into 3 parts. Each part then needs certain little things to finish it to be ready to bake. You keep one part and give the other 2 parts away I gave it to my 2 close neighbors (only neighbors withing a mile) They add the ingredients listed on the recipe and then do the same divide it up and send it out. If it's done right, the batter never gets old and the "cake can continue that way indefinitely! I know that right now my original batter has made at least 30 cakes so far!

Wow thats really nice to hear you guys...

April, what an original idea! How cool!

Newleaf...I"m glad you've decided to help people out more than just on christmas...it does make you feel good! I'm going to do the same!

WW....It was nice of you to give out candy/cookies to your neighbors! I bet they really liked it! Heres to getting a set of decent neighbors this year! :)

Keep them comming girls!

I already posted this in the other thread, but i forgot one.

We donate every year to the food bank, we also all put in money and sponsor a family in need.

Me and the kids also do the samaritans purse every November, the kids love doing that and picking out stuff to put in the boxes, it makes them happy to know they are going to make a couple of kids happy!

cheers,
michelle

This was such a great idea!

I took a classmate who doesn't have a car to get groceries so she didn't have to take the bus. We gave a present to our neighbor who is also giving cookies to the kids. We scheduled my daughter's girl scout troop to go to the soup kitchen the week after Christmas to help serve. Oh, and one for my daughter - she took some of her own money to school to help buy presents because her class got an angel off the school's angel tree. :)

by the way they had something like this on one of those AM shows a few days ago, i want to say it was good morning america or something like that but no it was kyw tv channel 3. darnit cannot remember their morning show lol. im BRAINDEAD! anyways, they had some good ideas and one of them was mine - giving a hot drink to your mailman. another one was paying for the car behind you in the fast food line! can you imagine? oprah had a show too on this type of thing and she said to start a notebook of things you do and then send it in. yeah like im gonna keep track of good deeds i do? yeah right!
