Hi! My name is Chris and I have lurked these forums for a couple of years now. I am 21 years old, 5'8" and 248 lbs...So yeah, i'm pretty big. I have been overweight my entire life, and it's mostly because I live in the South where everything is fried and there is no such thing as portions. When I was in highschool I found these forums and I went from 240 to 190 pretty easily, but it was just a diet. It wasn't a lifestyle change. I eventually gained it all back as I went back to what I loved the most which was drinking sodas and eating A LOT of fried chicken. I went up to 280 lbs and then it hit me. I asked myself "what the hell am I doing with my life?". I don't want to be overweight the entire time I am in my 20s. I have currently lost 30 or so pounds just by watching what I eat and cutting out the sodas. I am currently doing the 30 day shred, and I can feel myself losing inches. I'm a huge sports fanatic and gamer. From my years of lurking I have seen just how supportive this community is and the before-after pictures have helped my motivation more than I can explain. I want to thank everyone and look forward to joining everyone on their journey to becoming fitter.

P.S. I got my screen name because I honestly couldn't think of one so I just typed in the first thing that I saw. A desk. :)

Hey Desk! Welcome to the forums!

It sounds like you're off to a good start. Now it will be a challenge to incorporate changes that you'll stick with long term. Have you thought about starting a journal in the Weight Loss Diary section?
