Elliptical vs Treadmill--which is better/faster to help lose weight?

Losing Weight

From my experience, the best machine for losing weight is the machine you like best. It is less about the machine and more about which one you enjoy using, the more you enjoy the more you will use it and the more you will lose. So if you love the treadmill then go for that one. If another machine floats your boat go for that one. Relatively speaking, the same intensity will burn the same calories, doesn't matter if its a bike, treadmill...

They will both help you burn extra calories, but eating less food will help you lose more weight than either machine.

If you're just asking which machine burns more calories if you work at the same intensity then the answer is the elliptical, but as for which is better/faster to lose weight...neither. You can only lose some much weight in a given period if you hope to keep it off. Do it too quickly and chances are you'll pile it all right back on with a bit more for extra measure. As long as you're sticking to a regular workout and eating well, you will lose weight.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I have cut back on all the bad foods, and am actually eating more of the healthy ones. I was the type that barely ate during the day and now taking more time to eat right.....I've lost the weight before so I am trying to encourage myself to do it again. It's just sooooo hard.

Doing both would be fine, it will stop you getting bored using the same machine all the time, but as for how long that depends on your fitness level and goals. At least 10 minutes on each but to give you more you need to give me more.

Thank you! I used to run an 1 hr or 1.5 hrs years ago on the treadmill that helped me lose 50 pounds in 3.5 months, but I gained it all back. And I like to see what others think too, but thank you for your input!

Just make sure that you reach and stay in your target training zone (heart rate). It doesn't matter whether you use the elliptical, treadmill, rowing machine or whatever. So do what you enjoy doing, and keep going.

For me, running is the easiest way to get my heart rate up quickly.
